Our sympathy to the family and friends of Emanuel Wolf, whose funeral Mass was Wednesday, April 19th at St. Adrian Catholic church.  Emanuel was married to Arlene Jones in 1950.  He and Arlene were the parents of eight children; Don, Bob, Daryl, Mary, Rosemary, Virginia, Allen, and Alice.  After Arlene passed away, Emanuel married Helen Hudson.  Helen passed away in 2016. Emanuel has many grandchildren, step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  The funeral mass was planned beautifully with Fr. Andy Beerman officiating, and members of the family assisting.  Tears were shed when granddaughter Theresa Geiken sang “One Day at a Time”.  Emanuel served his church and community in many ways.  He served on numerous boards.  He will be greatly missed by his large family and the many friends he made over 88 years.  God bless the memory of Emanuel Wolf.

Gleaned from the April 16, 2017 Argus Leader was the recovery of “Miracle Man” from Sioux Rapids, Iowa.  The man was riding his motorcycle when he was hit by a car going 100 miles an hour.  The man, Ardie Keane, was so badly injured that no one expected him to live.  Ardie spent weeks in intensive care and had many surgeries to mend his many broken bones.  His family spent these weeks by his bedside.  When he was moved to room 514, the family searched for a verse in the Bible, and found in Ephesians “Wake up sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.”  Eph. 5:14.  Now that is a miracle!  Isn’t that a great Easter Story?

So good to see the green grass and the budding of the trees!  Isn’t God great!

Our sympathy to the family of Norbert Mormann, who died in Sunset Hospice Cottage in Worthington on April 19th.  Norbert’s funeral mass was held in St. Adrian on Friday, April 21, at 1:30 p.m.  Norbert and his late wife Margaret were the parents of six children; Douglas, Carol, Alan, Kathy and Lori.  Their daughter Patricia passed away in 2000.  Margaret died in 2006.  Norbert spent years involved in Church and community organizations.  Norbert was a kind, gentle and humble man who had so many friends.  His children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren all loved him deeply and he returned that love many times!  Blessed be the memory of one of God’s special servants!

Miss Brooke Fisher was guest of honor at a bridal shower held Sunday afternoon at St. Adrian’s Church Parlor.  The bride’s chosen colors of navy and white were used for decorating and many candles.  She received lovely and useful gifts.  There was a fun program with Meredith Vaselaar as M.C.  Punch, coffee and a wide variety of sweets were there for the guests to enjoy.  The bride-to-be and her fiance, Jon Konz, son of Pam and Mike, will be married in June.  They will make their home in Chicago, where Brooke will finish her studies to be a surgeon, and Jon will be in the ministry.  Congratulations Brooke and Jon!  May God bless you as you start your life together.

The Legion Auxiliary hosted a great breakfast Sunday morning, April 23rd at the Legion Hall in Adrian.  Members from all four Adrian churches were present at different times during the morning.  A free-will offering was taken and will be used for various projects in Adrian.  The food was delicious, and the service was great!

The 19th annual Hospice Charity dinner and Auction was held Saturday evening, April 22, at the new Grand Prairie Event Center in Luverne.  The theme and trip this year was Myrtle Beach.  A full house of over 400 guests enjoyed a three course dinner.  Pastor Kristi Franken, pastor of Adrian and Magnolia Methodist Churches, received the“Hospice Team Member” award, Dave and Sharel Remme of Luverne were named “Hospice Volunteers” and Glenn Gust was given the “Friend of Hospice “ award.  The Charity dinner and auction was started in 1999.  The auction was conducted by Keith Elbers, and the bidding was fast and furious.  The money made was fabulous!  100% of the funds raised stays with the Hospice program locally.  The Gertrude Berning hospice story was featured in the program book.  Two pictures of the Bernings were included.  The food was catered by Chef Skylar of the Bluestem Restaurant in Luverne.  All in all it was a great evening for the Hospice organization.  Congratulations to all the staff and volunteers of the Hospice program!  You did a great job!
