Adrian News 2-21-18

Only 35 days until Spring!

It was good to see Donny Bullerman back in Adrian.  He’s been in Arizona visiting with Mark and Renae!

Lots of babies born this past week!  Congratulations to Eric and Carrie Kunkel of Box Elder, SD on the birth of a new son, Tate Dwayne.  Tate was born Feb. 13.  Proud Grandparents are Marcia and Tony Kunkel of Adrian and great-grandmother Ardelle Brunk.  Congrats to all!

Cindy and Kevin Knips are proud grandparents once again.  Kyle and Kim Knips of Harrisburg, SD had a little boy, Weston George on Sunday, Feb. 18.  Congratulations!

Tanner and Katie Herinomus are proud parents of a baby girl, Dreese Sophie, born on Feb. 16th.  Congratulations to parents and grandparents.

Kay Cox was pleased to receive first place in the poetry division of the Catholic Daughters contest.  As she was the only one entered, the judging was short!

St. Adrian’s Knights of Columbus put on a pancake and sausage breakfast after Mass last Sunday.  Many came down as the smell of sausages and coffee was mouthwatering all during church.  The Catholic Daughters also had a bake sale going on at the same time.  You could pick out your plate of sweet treats, put your name on it and pick it up after eating.  I’d say both events were a success!  They went well together and will probably be done together again.

The Worthington gymnastics team, who has members from Adrian High School, took first place in the Section 3A meet this past Saturday in Luverne.  The team is headed for the State meet this coming Friday and Saturday on the U of M campus.  Congratulations!

Our deepest sympathies to Heather and Dallas Bullerman on the loss of Heather’s Aunt Lisa.

This coming Sunday, Feb. 25, is the last Sunday for Adrian Town and Country’s Sunday basketball program.  All are welcome to come.

Winter activities are winding down.  The boys basketball team plays at home on Thursday, Feb. 22 and again on Monday, Feb. 26.  The girls are starting subsections this week.   The wrestlers are heading for individual qualifications for State.  The Speech team is hosting a meet on Saturday.  If you haven’t supported the teams yet, it’s not too late. See you on the bleachers!

Ben and Karen Cook, along with their two boys, Matthew and Jason drove up to the Twin Cities to attend their brother-in-law’s funeral on Wednesday, Feb. 7.  The next morning they flew out to Dahlonega, GA (2 hours north of Atlanta) to visit daughter Natalie.

She is part of the full time Life Teen Missionaries in Atlanta.  They live in a camp that puts on retreats for middle school and high school age kids.  The team consists of five female and four male missionaries plus all the staff.  She was a summer missionary in 2016 with Life Teen as well.  The team spent two weeks in December in Haiti at a base camp there.  Besides hosting retreats they have a homeless ministry in Atlanta, giving out food and engaging with the homeless and seeing them as real people.  They celebrate Mass and holy hour with them each day.  The trip was a short one, but it was nice to see Natalie and meet her teammates.  It was 60° there, so the warmth was enjoyed for the weekend. On the way home they visited Karen’s sister and later had lunch with Ben’s brother Bernard.

Trial and error is the road to success, and you can’t drive the road as long as your car is parked.  So get moving and God will direct you!  When people are confident they try things and they keep on trying until they find a way to be successful in what God has called them to do. Get that car out of the garage.
