Adrian News 11-27-19

Thanksgiving is here!  25 days to Christmas!  WOW!  Watch for open houses for our area businesses.  You might be able to take home a deal!

Are you ready for the snow?  It sounds as if this week is supposed to be a mixture of ugly weather once again.  If you are traveling for Thanksgiving, keep up on the weather!

On Sunday, December 8th at 7:00 p.m  The Compassionate Friends network invites anyone who has lost a child to light a candle on their front step or porch in remembrance of them.  The candles will be lit for 24 hours around the world, making this the largest candle lighting.  Mark your calendar and light a candle.

Our heartfelt sympathy to Laura and Dick Kruger and the family for the loss of Laura’s son David Alan Peterson.  David passed away on Monday, November 18.  God Bless the memory of David Peterson.

November 29th is the deadline to get your loved one’s name on the list for the Tree of Lights ceremony on December 11.  You can get a form at the Nobles County Review, Keith’s Grocery, Adrian State Bank, Sunrise View Assisted Living or Adrian Country Cottages.  They can be sent in to the address on the form or dropped off at the Review.  Thank you.

Christmas concerts for the Adrian Schools are just around the corner.  The Elementary Concert is set for Monday, December 2nd and the MS/HS Band and choir concert is Monday, December 9th.

Our deepest sympathy to the family of Franny Lonneman.  Franny was involved in so many things.  He will be missed.  God Bless the memory of Franny Lonneman.

Girl’s Varsity basketball kicked off their season with a tournament in Sleepy Eye this past weekend.  Unfortunately they could not pull off the win.   This is the beginning of the sports pairing between Ellsworth and Adrian.  Good luck this week!

This week the middle school girls and boys basketball teams started their season off against Luverne on Tuesday, Nov. 26.  The boys were in Luverne and the girls had the home court advantage in Ellsworth.  Boys hockey also began it’s season on Tuesday night in Fairmont.  On Saturday the Boy’s basketball season opens at home (in Adrian) against Luverne.  On Tuesday, December 3rd, the Varsity GBB is at home in Ellsworth against SWC.  Hockey is at home in Luverne, and Gymnastics is at home in Worthington.

Be careful on the roads if you are driving to your Thanksgiving dinner.

The city employees were busy putting up the Christmas decorations on Maine Street on Monday while weather conditions were still in their favor.

Thought for the week:  It is important for us to realize that we are not alone in our battles.  The devil wants nothing better than to convince you that there is something really wrong with you and that other “normal” people don;t have the same kinds of problems.  Don’t let him do it.  Trust God!

Have a happy

and safe

Thanksgiving!
