A beautiful Veteran’s Day program was held Friday, November 10, at the Adrian High School gym. The program was implemented by the National Honor Society members. They arranged for a “Hummer” limousine to pick up any Veteran who wanted to ride at the American Legion Building and provided them with a ride to the gym. The grade school students and their teachers walked from the elementary school to join the high school students in a program full of songs, readings and the Adrian High School band playing a number of Patriotic songs. The American Legion Color Guards from Adrian and Lismore presented the flags. All of the Veterans were asked to stand and state their name and which branch of the military they had served in. “A Grateful Nation” was sung by the elementary students and both the middle school and high school choirs to give a special salute to the Veterans There were tears on many of the audience’s faces. I was so impressed by the respect and kindness shown by the students to all the people attending. You made a great impression on everyone. Thank you to the National Honor Society and the many sponsors for this beautiful program.
Tammy Ann Hoemberg, daughter of Ann (Cox) and the late Don Hoemberg went deer hunting in the Staples area on opening day. Tammy shot an eight point buck in the first hour, on the first day. She was ecstatic! This was not Tammy’s first deer. Her father taught her well!
At the end of 10:30 Mass this past Sunday, Father Colletti had all the Veterans stand and be recognized. The people in attendance responded with a loud round of applause.
On Friday, November 3rd, Marjorie Boltjes was laid to rest at Zion Presbyterian Church in Ellsworth. The service was officiated by Pastor Paul Snyder. He sang “Precious Lord” beautifully.
