Adrian News 1-24-18

I watched nine hours of football this past Sunday, and I will admit I cried when the Vikings lost so miserably.  I held high hopes until the fourth quarter and then I gave up!

The skies were clear at 3:00 a.m. on Monday morning, so I was so surprised when I finally got up at 8 a.m. and the snow was blowing so hard!

Don’t forget the bloodmobile this Wednesday, January 24,  at Adrian High School.  The hours are 2:00 – 7:00 p.m.  There is a great shortage of blood, so please walk in and donate.

Adrian’s Town and Country Assoc. held their 2017 Christmas party on Saturday, January 20, at the American Legion.  A small group of the membership attended, but it was reportedly a good time.

In the January 17 edition of the Nobles County Review, a great story, along with pictures, was featured about ten year old McKhia Hasty, who is fighting leukemia.  She is receiving strong doses of chemo and her family is praying for a bone marrow match.  Be sure to check the article for places to send well wishes or a donation.

Please keep those who are suffering from illnesses, surguries and sadness in your prayers.

There were once two porcupines who lived in Alaska.  Desiring to get warm, they drew close to each other.  As they did, they needled one another,  It hurt so much that they pulled apart.  But when they did, they got cold again, so they drew close once more and hurt each other as before.  Their predicament, they were either cold or hurting.  All too often this is the situation in our homes and churches.  Personalities are like the quills of the porcupine – they tangle and cause hurt.  I think it’s how we approach a situation that paves the outcome.  Maybe if these porcupines would have approached each other with quills down, sliding together on the smooth side, they wouldn’t have gotten poked.  Sometimes my expectations of a family member or a friend can lead to tension.  If I set my expectations of someone and they fail to meet them, whose fault is it?  Hurt can be the outcome.  My goal for 2018 is to be positive – find something good in everything that happens.  If I can keep my quills in, hopefully it will prevent someone from getting poked.  DK
