Even though it’s not officially Fall by the calender, school has started and that means summer is over for most people.  Let’s hope we have two to three more months of nice weather.

Congratulations to the Dragons volleyball team and cross country teams for a great start to their fall season.  Football also started, and they weren’t quite so lucky.  The next game for the football team is this Friday here at home.  Volleyball is scheduled for home on Thursday and Cross Country is in Sibley also on Thursday.

Tony and Darla Parsley are again collecting coats from now through October.  If you have gently used coats of any size, please drop them off at 517 Maine Ave. so someone who is in need will get a warm coat before winter sets in.

Kay Cox attended the funeral of Dan Coulter in Brandon, SD on September 1.  Dan was married to the daughter of Raphael and Betty (Cox) Steinhoff.  The Mass was officiated by Fr. David Krogman. Dan worked at the V.A. Medical Center in Sioux Falls, and he and his wife Barb had been given an award for volunteering with the Red Cross.  Blessed be the memory of Dan Coulter.

Our deepest sympathies to the family of Tony Haper.  Tony passed away on September 3rd in Sioux Falls.  Tony and Loretta had owned Adrian Mini Mart for years.  Blessed be the memory of Tony Haper.

Also our deepest sympathies to the family of Sylvester Vortherms.  Sylvester passed away on Saturday, September 1st.  When you think of Sylvester, you think of all the great produce he sold for years.  Blessed be the memory of Sylvester Vortherms.

If you happen to drive by the Country Living Cottages, be sure to wave at the ladies in dark glasses sitting outside enjoying the warm sun.  They are really keeping an eye on what is happening on the street and across the street.   So be sure to give them a salute!

St. Anthony’s Bazaar and dinner is coming up on Sunday, Sept. 9th.  If you decide to attend, make sure to read the inscription on the oak cabinet that is holding a quilt.  The plaque honors all of the hard work that goes into quilting by St. Anthony Mission workshop ladies.  5000 quilts and counting!

Thought for the week:  Despite the high cost of living, it remains popular!

Have a great week and watch out for kids!
