Adrian News 08-29-18

Congratulations to Carl Hallum for his promotion to Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Air Force Civil Air Patrol Auxiliary.  Carl is a pilot instructor in fixed wing aircrafts, a glider pilot instructor and an aerospace education instructor of the local squadron.  A big congratulations.

The women’s league at the Adrian Country Club had their Derby Night on August 22.  It was a great time with a theme of Dress the Decade. There were costumes from the roaring twenties to the present.  Congrats to Jill Diekman and Christine Bullerman for pulling off the Derby victory! The ACC men’s club tournament was also held this past week-end.  Colt Bullerman is the new ACC Club Champion.  Congratulations Colt.  More results next week.

A wedding shower for Carly Wolf, bride-to-be of Cody Henning was held on Saturday, August 25.  A  great number of family and friends came to honor Carly and Cody.  A fun skit was put on by Carly’s aunts, the same one they had put on for Jody Wolf twenty-five plus years ago.  It was a very nice shower.  Carly and Cody’s wedding is October 13.

Don’t forget the two upcoming church dinners and bazaars.  St. Anthony’s is Sunday, September 9,  from 11:00 a.m-1:00 p.m. and St. Adrian’s is Sunday, September 16, from

4:00-7:00 p. m.

Elaine Klein, daughter of the late Raphael Klein, popped in this past Sunday to visit with Kay Cox.  Kay is always thrilled to have friends and family stop.

Our deepest sympathies to Mike and Cheryl Cox of Luverne and to Kay Cox for the loss of their son and grandson, Brian last week.  It is always so hard to lose someone young.   Brian’s favorite foods, pizza, chips licorice and lemonade, were served by the ladies at St. Catherine.  Brian was laid to rest in St. Adrian Catholic Cemetery.  At the end of the service at the cemetery, a chipmunk fell into the open grave site, causing quite a stir.  One of the members of the Hartquist staff climbed down and removed the frightened chipmunk. Brian was undoubtably laughing at all the commotion. Blessed be the memory of Brian Thomas.

Up this week for the Senior Dining Center is the August birthday celebration on Thursday, August 30.  Remember that the site is closed on Labor Day.

Thought for the Week:  Whenever I try to eat healthy, a chocolate bar looks at me and Snickers!

Have a great Labor Day weekend.  Be safe!
