Adrian News 07-08-2020

What   a  weekend!  The  heat  was   enough  to  make you want  to  stay inside in the  AC, but  it  was  the  Fourth  after  all  and  you  just  have  to be outside.  The  moon  was  awesome!  I  hope you  had  a chance to see it!    We  were  down  at   the   Iowa Lakes  and  the sky was totally clear  for the fireworks  display  and  there  was  not  much  of  a  breeze.  The mosquitoes were out unfortunately, but I guess that is a part of it.  Hope you had a great Fourth!
At a recent pastoral Council Meeting for the St. Adrian Cluster, it was decided that the Rural Life Celebration originally scheduled for this summer would be postponed until spring.  The Pastoral Council also postponed the fall dinners for 2020 of St. Adrian, St. Anthony, and OLGC.

Mark your calendar for the American Red Cross Bloodmobile, which will be in Lismore on Tuesday, July 28th, from 2:00-7:00 p.m. and in Adrian on Wednesday, July 29th at the AHS middle School gym from 1 – 7 p.m.

Our daughter Stephanie was down for the weekend and a little nervous the whole time.  They are much stricter up in the Twin Cities with wearing masks and stringent social distancing than we are.  I keep reminding her there are not as many people down here, but we do still need to be mindful of our own social distancing and masks.  Remember, it’s not about you-it’s about the people you come into contact with!  Let’s keep up the good work we’ve been doing.  We have had more COVID positives than previously, so stay alert!

Please continue to keep Mitchell Wagner and his family in your prayers.  He is making improvements, but still has a long road ahead of him.

Our prayers are needed for a lot of people and for our country and it’s leaders during this time of turmoil.  It’s so easy to get depressed when there is fear hanging over any gathering.  Keep praying.  It’s a powerful tool!

If you haven’t already, be sure to drive by the community planted raised beds and see how well they are doing.  It’s great!  The three inches of rain we received Monday morning will help for a time.

Our deepest sympathy to the family of Lena Wiertzema from Ellsworth.  Jerre and Jill are a big part of Adrian life and I know the community is praying for the family.  God bless the memory of Lena Wiertzema

Thought for the week:  Celebrating each new day helps us develop the ability to be grateful for all the new moments and for the God who is in each one.  The discipline of celebrating each new day influences our attitude toward all life.

Have a good week!

y safe!
