Adrian/Ellsworth softball kicks off season

On Tuesday, April 2 the girls softball team traveled to Worthington.  This was the first time the girls were able to play on a diamond rather than grass.  Even though the score wasn’t what we wanted, the girls did a very good job.  There was only two errors committed and overall they came out with some good knowledge of what needs to be worked on.  It was good for the pitching to get on a mound and throw and for the hitters it was good to hit off of a live pitcher.  They did a lot of positive things.

In the second inning Autumn Grussing and Shawna Rogers led off with walks, but that was as far as they were able to go.  In the 4th inning Kristina Cauwels led off with a walk.  Autumn Grussing hit a single that allowed Kristina to advance to third.  On the next pitch Autumn attempted to steal second, when they played on her,  Kristina stole home for the first run.  Shawna Rogers hit a single, Sam Moulten hit a double, Jennifer Preuss hit an RBI single to finish the scoring.

Worthington scored 3 runs in the first on two walks, a single and a sacrifice fly.   They didn’t score again until the third inning when they scored 3 runs on a two walks, a hit batter, two stolen bases and 2 singles.  The 4th inning they scored 4 runs on an error, 2 doubles and 3 singles.  The 5th inning they scored 2 runs on an error, two singles and a double.

Offensively: Jayden Zebe 1-3, Kristina Cauwels- 0-2, 1 BB, 1 SB, 1 R, Shawna Rogers 1-2, 1 R, 1 BB, Sam Moulten 1-2, 1 2B, Autumn Grussing 1-2, 1 BB, Jennifer Preuss 1-2, 1 RBI.
