On Wednesday, May 29th, the Adrian Area softball team held their awards banquet. Their season ended with a loss to Wabasso during Section play in Slayton on Thursday, May 23rd.
Awards were given to Varsity and Junior Varsity players. For the varsity team, Offense Awards: Jayden Zebe – Most Plate Appearances, Most At Bats, Most Doubles & Most Runs Scored. Kristina Cauwels had the most hits, most singles, most doubles, most triples and highest on-base-percentage. Shawna Rogers received awards for most runs scored and highest batting average. Halle Heitkamp received an award for most hit-by-pitch. Avery Balster and Shawna Rogers pitched the majority of the games for the Adrian Area Dragons. Rogers received a certificate for the most strike outs for the season.
Defensive Awards: Autumn Grussing received awards for most total chances, most put outs and being part of a double play; Avery Balster led the team with the most assists and assisting with a double play. Jennifer Preuss and Sam Moulton also received an award for being part of a double play.
Team awards went to: Most Improved, Sam Moulton (Varsity) and Julia Bullerman (JV); Rookie of the Year, Kendra DeBeer and Jayden Zebe (Varsity) and Paige Bixby (JV); Ms. Clutch, Shawna Rogers (V) and Olivia Lehnhoff (JV); Most Spirit, Maritza Beltran (Varsity) and Kaysie Lenz (JV); Dragon Award: Halle Heitkamp, Jennifer Preuss and Avery Balster (Varsity) and Hiltyn Heitkamp (JV); MVP Award, Autumn Grussing (Varsity) and Maritza Beltran (JV).
Varsity Letterwinners: Sam Moulton, Kendra DeBeer, Jayden Zebe, Shawna Rogers, Maritza Beltran, Autumn Grussing, Jennifer Preuss, Avery Balster, Halle Heitkamp, Kristina Cauwels and Hiltyn Heitkamp.
Captain awards went to the three graduating seniors, Avery Balster, Halle Heitkamp and Autumn Grussing.
All Conference Awards went to Autumn Grussing, Kristina Cauwels and Avery Balster (Honorable Mention).
Academic All State was awarded to Autumn Grussing and Avery Balster
