The girls softball team opened Sub-section play on Tuesday night against Wabasso in Wabasso. Things didn’t go well from the beginning. Wabasso scored 4 runs in the bottom of the 1st inning when their first three batters were slap hitters and bunters with speed batting from the left side which made for tough outs along with a Homerun. They scored 2 more runs in the bottom of the 2nd on two singles and an error.
Adrian Area got on the scoreboard in the top of the 3rd when Mady Neuenberg walked but was thrown out on an attempted steal before Avery Balster walked and Devin Dreesen hit a homerun making the score 6-2.
Wabasso put the game out of reach in the bottom of the inning by scoring 7 more runs and 3 more in the bottom of the 4th. Adrian Area scored one more run in the top of the 5th inning on a solo homerun by Devin D.
Offensively Kristina Cauwels 1-2, Avery Balster 1-2, 1-BB, 1-R, Devin Dreesen 2-3, 2 HR, 1 2B, 3 RBI’s, 2 R, Morgan Dreesen 1-BB, Paige Bullerman 1-BB.
Avery Balster started pitching giving up 8 hits, 5 BB, and 2 strikeouts, Devin Dreesen finished the day giving up 6 hits, 1 BB and 1 strikeout.
