Adrian Area 0-Luverne 20
Last Friday night the girls hosted Luverne at Ellsworth. Things didn’t go as planned right from the very beginning. Luverne scored 5 runs in the 1st inning, 6 runs in the 4th inning, and 7 runs in the 5th. 8 errors were committed by the defense. The girls were only able to get 3 runners on base. Avery Balster was 1-2 with a double. Devin Dreesen pitched.
Adrian Area 17-HL-O 11
Thursday night the cool temperatures didn’t affect the girls softball team. They started out the first inning scoring 10 runs. Maddy Neuenberg started off with a triple and a double, followed by 2 singles from Avery Balster, a single and a double from Autumn Grussing, and a single from Halle Heitkamp, base on balls by Paige Bullerman and Hailee Nolte, and an intentional walk for Devin Dreesen completed the 1st inning. HL-O scored two runs in the 2nd on 3 singles, and a walk. Adrian Area scored another run in the 3rd on an error, a stolen base and passed ball as Avery Balster scored on a sacrifice fly by Devin D. HL-O scored 5 runs in the top of the 4th on a double, 3 singles, a walk and an error. Adrian Area scored 2 more runs in the bottom of the 5th on a double by Devin D., a walk by Morgan Dressen and Halle Heitkamp and an error. In the bottom of the 6th the girls scored 4 runs, starting off with a single from Maddy N. a double by Avery B., a 2 run home run by Devin Dreesen, followed by a double from Paige Bullerman, a walk from Mary Koffron and then Paige Madison was hit by a pitch. HL-O scored 3 runs in the top of the 7th. They started off with 2 singles before Devin D. came in to pitch. An error followed, then a single and a walk before Maddy ended the game with a fly ball catch in center field.

Defensively Autumn Grussing did a good job of digging throws out of the dirt. Paige Bullerman did a good job of catching along with great plays by Devin Dreesen at short stop. Avery Balster did a good job of pitching, completing 6 innings, earning the win. She gave up 9 hits, 4 BB, struck out 5. Devin Dreesen gave up 1 hit, 1 BB and had 1 K.
Adrian Area will be home on Thursday against Mt. Lake area and will compete at the Windom tournament Saturday. Come out and cheer your team on, see you on the bleachers.
