Christmas in July is just around the corner. Are you ready? The members of the Adrian Town and Country Association (ATC) are hard at work lining up all of the events.
Ribs and Rims starts off the weekend on Friday night. If you haven’t attended, make plans for a great meal with family and friends. The ribs are grilled to perfection by Seth Darling, who has been the main griller since the first Rims and Ribs. The feed starts at 5:30 p.m. and goes until the ribs are gone. You’ll find the Adrian Ambulance Service members and the members of the Lismore, Rushmore, Ellsworth and Adrian Fire Departments behind the tables serving up the food. The cost is a free will donation. All of the proceeds (after expenses) go to the five entities that provide our area with great services. Letters are sent out to area businesses and individuals seeking sponsors for the event. If you would like to be a sponsor and don’t receive a letter, please contact Connie (Jerry) Lonneman at 483-2362.
On the Rims side of the evening, you’ll find 90 – 100 different vehicles lined up on the street for you to look at. If you have something with rims that you’d like to let others take a look at, contact Rita (Duane) Boltjes at 507-290-0420. Something new this year – Papik Motors is bringing over 6 – 8 new vehicles for display! It just keeps getting better!
Finish off Friday night with the music of County Line Drive. This band has been booked for a year and the ATC members are very excited to have them back!
Saturday looks to have a full day of fun events for your enjoyment. There will be a craft show and inflatables down by the ball diamonds. A kick ball tournament and a golf tournament are on the schedule. The Zoo Man will be in town, and of course the food stand.
The Kiddie parade is being brought back again this year. Anyone is invited to join in the fun. Dig out a fun costume — you could be a clown, a princess, or how about your Halloween costume (a possible second use)? You can walk, ride a bike, trike, pull a wagon, push a stroller, any way you can come up with to be in a parade. There will be candy to hand out as you go along the route. All you need to do is meet in the Sanford Adrian Clinic parking lot at 6:30 p.m. The Kiddie parade will start just shortly before 7:00, leading off the rest of the parade! The Grand Marshall is still a secret! Who will it be?
The duck races are back. The race will run right after the parade in the street next to the fire hall (temporary home of the food stand). The tickets are going on sale now. You can get yours from any ATC member or at Adrian State Bank.
The night wraps up with Stove Top Productions on the stage. Lee Stover, an AHS graduate will be playing music of all varieties. Can you think of a better way to end a great weekend?
Make plans to be in Adrian on July 20 and 21 for Christmas in July. There are more events planned than highlighted here. Watch for flyers that will be coming out soon! Be there and avoid Santa’s naughty list!
