The annual medallion hunt has kicked off the Christmas in July celebration. THE MEDALLION HAS BEEN FOUND! This year’s celebration theme is “Christmas Memories”. Things will kick off on Friday, July 15th with Ribs and Rims and many events are scheduled throughout the day on Saturday, July 16th.
Friday night’s Ribs and Rims event begins at 5:30 p.m. in the tent directly behind city hall as the volunteers begin to serve ribs and continue to serve until all the ribs are gone. The servers are volunteers from the Adrian Ambulance and the Adrian, Ellsworth, Lismore and Rushmore Fire Departments. It is a goodwill offering with all proceeds going to those five organizations. The car show will be held while the ribs are being served. Anything with wheels is welcome to participate. Shine and polish it up and bring it in for the show. There will be kids face painting from 5:30-7:30 p.m. For those 21 and older, The Den will have free beer and wine tasting from 5:30 to 10:30 p.m. Following the ribs dinner, the hamburger stand will open at 8:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. There will be a beer garden on the grounds, no coolers are allowed.
If you are a sport enthusiast, Saturday will keep you busy as we kick things off with a sand volleyball tournament at the Adrian Campground from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. (contact Jason Kellen for sign up info)and a four person, best ball golf tournament at the Adrian Country Club beginning at 11:00 a.m., the tournament is full but you are welcome to come out and support your favorite team. A bean bag tournament will begin Saturday evening at 8:00 p.m. behind City Hall by Henning Construction, register after the parade.
For those young ones or just young at heart, there will be kids inflatables at the Elementary School gym from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. and the Zoo Man Express will be outside the Elementary School from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. A $2 wristband gets you unlimited trips in the inflatables and into the Zoo Man Express show. The annual craft and vendor fair will be in the Elementary from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. The Adrian Town & Country Association will have their food stand open from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the Fire Hall. There will be music by Audrey Brake at the food stand from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. The annual parade will be held at 7:00 p.m. This years Grand Marshalls are John and Peg Faber. Make sure to get a good spot on Maine Ave to see the fun floats, Adrian Band and to see who is celebrating class reunions this year. All area veterans and Legion members are invited to ride in the parade on the Adrian Legion float. Meet at the Adrian Clinic at 6:30 to ride in the parade. Immediately following the parade will be the annual duck race. If you don’t have a duck in the race yet, you can still buy tickets at Closet to Closet, Adrian Hardware, Adrian State Bank or contact any Adrian Town and Country Association member. There will be entertainment by DJ Sieff Style Entertainment behind City Hall from 9:00 p.m. until 12:00 a.m.
