I know that I haven’t mentioned the Library renovation plan for a while. It takes time to get architects, and contractors to look at the conceptual plan, make recommendations, and put the wheels into motion.
The other BIG part of the renovation plan is the fundraising that we will be doing, in order to finance our contribution to the project: the furnishings. If you recall, on April 19, 2016, the Nobles County Commissioners gave the green light on the project. During the discussions of the renovation, there were two specific aspects that needed to be addressed from a financial standpoint: the first one is addressed the structural needs of the Library building, including (but not limited to): replacing the entry with one that is handicapped accessible, removing/renovating the ceiling and light fixtures, cover and/or replace the current flooring, upgrading the restroom to be ADA compliant, renovate and/or replace the heating/cooling system, add an air exchanger, painting the walls, etc. At the April 19th meeting, the county commissioners agreed that the county will fund all building issues.
