This is the last week that coats an be dropped off at Parsleys.  If you have extra coats that are in good shape, consider giving them to someone who could use one.

The time changes back for the winter early Sunday morning-November 1.  Remember to set your clocks back on Saturday night.  Take that extra hour of sleep on Sunday morning!

Can you believe November is only one week away?  Where did October go.  Only a few more days until we vote.  Be sure to get your vote counted!  Mail in ballots must be postmarked on or before November 3rd.  All of our votes are important.

I finally broke down and bought some Halloween candy.  Not sure if anyone will be out, but I always buy what I like just in case there’s any left.  I’m going to turn my light on, mask up and wear gloves and not let anyone touch the candy but my gloved hand.  I don’t know what else to do.  If you don’t feel right about it-don’t turn on your light or answer your door.  It is beginning to make me wonder about Santa coming to town.  Bummer!  COVID cases have been on the rise big time.  If you don’t feel good STAY HOME!  A good reminder — get your flu shot!

Congratulations to Deb Lutmer who is retiring from working at the school after 26 years.  I hope you love retirement!

The Homecoming football game was cold-so cold that the shutter on the camera lens was slow and the pictures turned out all blurry. Unfortunately the Dragons couldn’t pull off the win.  The students had activities go for two weeks so everyone could be involved in all of them.  Homecoming 2020 is definitely one for the record books!

The Gophers lost and we won’t even mention the Vikings.  Football has been disappointing and with no one cheering in the stands it’s hard to watch.  Hallmark has begun its Christmas season!  If I can’t cheer, I’ll feel good.

We shut down the pump for my big pond on Saturday.   It was funny I was dressed warm and it wasn’t too bad.  The filters were froze, but the pump was running.  The water I was cleaning off my filters with felt really warm compared to the air temp.  The pond sits under an ash tree which still had most of its leaves, and the whole time I was out there it was literally raining leaves.  Later in the afternoon the tree was almost empty.  We had to go back out and pick up leaves as the net over the pond was totally covered.  One more thing shut down for winter.

Keep up the prayers for Mitchell Wagner, as well as all of the other people on your prayer lists.  The power of prayer is beyond belief!

With the number of COVID victims growing, more will need our prayers.I also can’t help but include our country.  May God not give up on us!

Congratulations to Kailey Jones and the Avoca, IA Lady Vikes for winning the District Cross Country title and punching a ticket to the State Iowa Cross Country meet in Fort Dodge, Ia Saturday, Oct 31.  Kailey is granddaughter of Wayne and Sharon Jones. Go Kailey.  She is a Senior and the first time she has been a runner.

She ran Cross Country and played Volleyball this fall.

There is one more class this week on Thursday night on using Facetime and Zoom.  With winter looming-it is a great way to stay connected.  The cost of the class is $20.  To register give me a call at 507-360-7671 or online at loopedin.setmore.com  and get signed up.

Our sympathies for the family of Generose Marie Bush, who passed away this past week at Parkview Manor in Ellsworth.  May God bless her memory.

Thought for the week:  When was the last time you engaged in the age-old practice of stargazing?  The night sky has a magical effect of putting everything in perspective.  Stand in the stillness and know that the One who made the stars never changes.  Your world, your life is in a perfect pattern too.  God doesn’t make mistakes.

Have a great week!
