Funeral Services for Dick Visker, age 94, of Ellsworth, MN was held at Zion Presbyterian Church in Ellsworth, MN, with Rev. Paul Snyder officiating. Burial was at Grand Prairie Cemetery near Ellsworth. Dick died on Monday, February 24, 2020 at Sanford Hospital in Luverne, MN. Dick was born July 1, 1925 in Ellsworth, MN, the son of Jullo and Winnie (Mulder) Visker. He grew up on a farm east of Ellsworth and attended country school. He graduated from Ellsworth High School in 1943.
Dick was united in marriage to Elaine June Nolte on September 14, 1950 at Zion Presbyterian Church in Ellsworth. He then entered the US Army and was stationed in Battle Creek, MI until he was deployed to Germany in April of 1951. He received his honorable discharge in September of 1952 and returned home to his wife, Elaine, and they began farming west of Ellsworth. He farmed his entire working life until he retired. After retirement he helped various farmers in the area. He was a member of the Zion Presbyterian Church in Ellsworth where he faithfully attended worship every Sunday. He was also a member of the Gilbert Larson American Legion Post 196 in Ellsworth. He enjoyed trips to casinos, puzzles, reading the area newspapers, coffee with neighbors and playing cards with friends.
On October 8, 1992, Dick’s wife Elaine passed away. Dick remained living on the farm until 2011 when he moved into Ellsworth. He entered Parkview Manor in 2016 and remained living there until he died at Sanford Hospital.
He is survived by his two children, Darcey (Steve) Groen of Little Rock, IA and Darryn (Beth Meyer) Visker of Richfield, MN; three grandchildren, Justin Groen, Jordan Groen (special friend Maitland Dykstra) and Nathaniel (Venecia) Visker; sister, Grace Kass of Sioux Falls, SD; and several nieces, nephews and other extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jullo and Winnie Visker; and wife of 42 years, Elaine J. Visker.
