A Mass of Christian Burial for Julianne (Julie) Metz , Peachtree City, GA, formerly from Lismore, MN, will be held on Thursday, February 27, 2020 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Peachtree City. Julianne passed away on February 10, 2020. Julianne was born August 29, 1935 to the late Catherine Hendel Metz, a self-taught, talented artist, and Emil Metz, a farmer, WW1 Veteran, and Purple Heart recipient. She was born on the family farm, near Lismore, MN. Julie was the youngest of five children. Her brother Gilbert, a WW2 Veteran and sisters, Lorraine, Donna, and Eva Lou (Evie).
Julie loved and learned to care for the many farm animals, being particularly fond of her “pet” lamb. Julie had gorgeous “Irish red hair,” a family trait she passed on to her two granddaughters. She graduated from Saint Adrian Catholic School in Adrian, MN. She earned her certification as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Her love for travel allowed her to have careers nursing in Hawaii, California, Arizona, New Mexico, and Minnesota. She never drove a car and spent many cold Minnesota winter mornings and nights at a bus stop, commuting to and from work.
Julie retired to Georgia in order to be close to her daughter, Ann and her husband, Tom. She appreciated the warmer winters and the convenience of golf cart transportation in Peachtree City. She joined the congregation at Holy Trinity and always volunteered to help for as long as her health permitted. Julie stayed active all of her life, always eager to meet new people and make new friends. Her love for her three grandchildren was boundless, and many of Katie, Tommy, and Clare’s fondest memories were with “Grandmar.”
Julie was always pleasant and agreeable and no matter what her circumstances were, she always kept a smile on her face. She was loved and cared for by many and will be greatly missed by both family and friends.
