January 6, 2020
The special board meeting of the Adrian Board of Education was called to order by Superintendent Graff at 6:00 p.m. on January 6, 2020 in the District Conference Room. Members present: Bullerman, Kruger, Kunkel, Lenz, Madison, and Wolf. Also present was Principal Koehne and Dean of Students Schettler, and staff member J Henning. Board member Wieneke was absent.
Motion by Kruger, seconded by Kunkel to elect Chris Wolf as Board Chair, with no other nominations cast, motion carried.
Superintendent Graff turned the meeting over to new Board Chair Chris Wolf.
Motion by Bullerman, seconded by Kruger to elect Ed Lenz as Board Vice-Chair, with no other nominations cast, motion carried.
Motion by Bullerman, seconded by Madison to re-elect Robert J Kunkel, Jr., (Bob Kunkel) as Board Clerk, with no other nominations cast, motion carried.
Motion by Lenz, seconded by Kunkel to re-elect Lisa Kruger as Treasurer, with no other nominations cast, motion carried.
Renee Bullerman relayed the current board member salaries and compensations. Motion by Bullerman to keep salaries and compensations the same, seconded by Kunkel, motion carried.
Motion by Kunkel to set the meeting date and time to the third Monday of each month at 6:00 p.m., with the January & February meeting dates for the Fourth Monday at 6:00 p.m., motion seconded by Madison, motion carried.

Administrative Operations – combining Executive, Finance, Building & Grounds, Administrative & At Will Negotiations committees – Kunkel, Wieneke and Wolf
Staff Negotiations – combining Meet and Confer, Education Minnesota and Local 578 Union committees- Kunkel, Madison, and Wolf
Education Planning & Development – combining Curriculum & Instruction, Staff Development, Community Education and Continuing Education committees- Kruger
Vendor Contracts – combining Transportation and Food Service committees- Bullerman, Kruger, and Wieneke
Student Policy/Handbook – Kruger, Lenz and Madison
Minnesota State High School League – Wolf
MSBA/MREA Legislative Liaison – Wolf and Lenz as alternate
Nobles County Integration and adding Worthington Area Learning Center Advisory – Madison and C Osornio as the community member
HRA Advisor – Lenz
Motion by Bullerman, seconded by Kunkel to approve the new committee assignments for the 2020-year, motion carried.
Motion by Kruger to appoint The Nobles County Review as the District’s official newspaper, seconded by Kunkel, motion carried.
Motion by Bullerman to set the bank depository for the District as Adrian State Bank, Madison seconded the motion, motion carried.
Motion by Kruger to appoint Ratwik, Roszak & Maloney, as our legal council, seconded by Madison, motion carried.
Motion by Bullerman to approve the 2020 IRS Standard Mileage Rate at .575 cents for personal vehicle usage when a school vehicle is not available and .2875 cents per mile when a school vehicle is available, effective January 1, 2020, seconded by Lenz, to approve new mileage rate, motion carried.
Mr. Graff presented the July 1, 2019 through June 30, 2021 agreement with the Local 578 Union. Informing the board of the language changes, along with an 8.6 percent pay increase for the 2-year term. Motion by Kunkel, seconded by Madison to approve the agreement, the following voted in favor: Bullerman, Kruger, Kunkel, Madison, Wolf with Lenz abstaining his vote, motion carried.
Mr. Graff presented a resignation from Herman Boltjes, Jr. as the afternoon custodian at the Elementary School effective December 19, 2019, motion by Kruger, seconded by Kunkel to accept resignation, motion carried.
Mrs. Cate Koehne proposed the District hire Richard Honermann under the Exemption for Technical Education Instructors, MN Statutes, Section 122A.30 on a part time basis in Industrial Tech. Motion by Bullerman, seconded by Kunkel to approve hire, motion carried.
Mrs. Cate Koehne proposed the District hire Curtis Ramerth under the Exemption for Technical Education Instructors, MN Statutes, Section 122A.30 on a part time basis in Industrial Tech. Motion by Kruger, seconded by Madison to approve hire, motion carried.
Mrs. Cate Koehne proposed the District hire Ben Henning under the Exemption for Technical Education Instructors, MN Statutes, Section 122A.30 on a part time basis in Industrial Tech. Motion by Kunkel, seconded by Lenz to approve hire, motion carried.
Motion by Bullerman, seconded by Kunkel to adjourn the Special January 6th, 2020 meeting of the Adrian Board of Education at 6:21 P.M., motion carried.
