Adrian News 12-18-19

One week until Christmas! With all of the busyness of the season, it will be kind of nice to relax as the big day gets here.  Why do we do this to ourselves each year?  The Christmas celebrations have already begun for some.

Our deepest sympathies go out to the family of Sylvia Gruis.  She passed away December 12, 2019 at Sibley Specialty Care in Sibley.  God bless the memory of Sylvia Gruis.

Santa was in the area over the weekend.  He also should be exhausted when Christmas is past!  He visited Rushmore, Lismore and Adrian on Saturday.  Also in Adrian was the middle school Christmas Basketball Tournament.  There were lots of people in the high school for both events.  Be sure to check out all of the pictures in this week’s paper.

The A-E sports teams were in full action this past week.  On Friday night, the BBB team took on WWG and it was an exciting game, with the Dragons coming out on top in two overtimes.  The GBB took on Hills/Beaver Creek and lost a well fought game by 9 points.  Both teams are beginning to mix well together and play as one team.  Go A-E Dragons!  The Girls play at home in Adrian against Worthington on Tuesday and on Friday in Ellsworth against HLOF.  The boys take on Windom Area at home on Monday night, and in a tournament in Tyler on Thursday before Christmas break.

Wrestling did well at the JCC Tournament on Saturday with 4 wrestlers placing in the tournament and the team took 7th.  Earlier in the week, they traveled to Marshall and met up with the Marshall Tigers and the FMCC Warriors.  The Dragons handily defeated FMCC before falling to the Tigers.  They have a match on Tuesday at home and then a tournament in Redwood Falls on Friday before their Christmas break.

School will be out for Christmas break after classes on Friday.  Be aware of kids on the streets for the next week and a half.

Be sure to check out the pictures for the Tree of Lights Ceremony.  It was well attended and a very nice evening.

So far the weather is supposed to hold until maybe Christmas Day.  It’s still too far away for predictions.  We can continue to pray for good weather for all of those who are traveling.

Keep in your prayers all of those who are sick and need extra prayers, who will be traveling and those who have lost someone. The holidays can be a happy time, but can also be a very stressful and lonely time.  The area Christmas church services are listed in this paper.  Check out the places and times of worship and thank God for all of your blessings!

Thought for the week:  We never like to hear “no” in life.  We want so much.  We find ourselves asking Jesus “Can I have this?”  Sometimes He says no, but He promises to give us all we need for life in this moment.  It is not wrong to ask Jesus for more, but peace pours in when we are able to look at the life we have been given with gratitude.

A very Merry Christmas to all of you and have a great week!
