Robert Lee Wittry ~ Lismore, MN

 

 

A Mass of Christian Burial for Robert Lee Wittry, age 75, of Lismore, MN, was held on Monday, December 2, 2019 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, in Lismore, officiated by Monsignor Richard Colletti. Burial with full military honors provided by the Lismore American Legion will be at St. Anthony Cemetery.  Robert died Tuesday, November, 26, 2019, at the Adrian Country Living Cottages in Adrian , MN. He was born August 14, 1944, in Adrian, to Nic and Frances (Wilberding) Wittry. He grew up on the family farm southwest of Lismore. He graduated from St. Anthony Catholic High School. After graduation, Bob entered the United States Army. His father died the following June and Bob was discharged from the service to help his mother and younger sister, Judy.

Bob married Kathy Balk on November 14, 1970, at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, in Wilmont. They farmed in the Lismore & Wilmont areas. The couple later divorced.

He was a member of the St. Anthony Catholic Church in Lismore; the Parish Council; St. Isadore Knights of Columbus, where he had served as Secretary; the Adrian-Lismore Elevator Board; and the Lismore American Legion Post #636 . Bob enjoyed dancing, riding his motorcycle, ice fishing, snowmobiling and trap shooting for over twenty five years.

Bob is survived by his three children, Shawn (Tammi) Wittry, Sioux Falls, SD; Bobbi (Myron) Ruesch, Mankato, MN; and Nicole (Jason) Platt, Lake Wilson, MN; seven grandchildren, Evan, Avery and Bryson Wittry; Abbigail and Emmili Ruesch; and Callie and Broox Platt; and three sisters, Doris (Don) Brake, Fulda, MN; Arlene Knips, Lakeville, MN; and Judy (Jim) Bauer, Lincoln, NE.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Edwin Wittry.
