Lismore and the surrounding area were stunned and saddened by the death of Bruce Loosbrock. Bruce passed away suddenly while working on Tuesday, October 29th. His death leaves a void not only in his family but also in the community. Bruce was a part of so many good things; St. Anthony’s, the Knights of Columbus, the Sons of the American Legion, Lismore Fire Department, Adrian Wrestling, and St. Mary’s Catholic School were just a few of the places he put his faith into practice and did so much work. All that, in addition to his business, Loosbrock Digging Service. He had a huge “servant’s heart” and an even bigger one when it came to his family. Bruce and Brenda raised seven children and enjoyed all the fun that comes with a large family. Grandchildren added a new dimension that he loved. Bruce leaves behind his wife Brenda and children Wade and Laci Loosbrock, Amber and Cel Ezeani, Calvin Loosbrock, Mary Jean and Anthony DiGiovanni, Stephen and Bethany Loosbrock, Nichole and Austin Quebedeaux, and Shelly Loosbrock and ten grandchildren. His mother Mary Ann Loosbrock and brothers Patrick and Neal, sisters Rosanne Sloan, Kay Wolf, and Nancy Wolf also survive him, in addition to many other relatives and friends. The annual Veterans Day program will be held on Monday, November 11, at the Adrian High School gymnasium beginning at 9:30 a.m. The program will feature the color guards from Adrian and Lismore, musical selections, and readings. Please make plans to attend and honor and show respect to our Veterans who have fought for the many freedoms we enjoy today.
Bev (Klein) Jansen of Denver, CO passed away on October 29th. Bev grew up in Adrian, graduated from AHS, and later married her childhood sweetheart, Wayne Jansen. Bev was always full of life and energy even while going through her 13-month battle with cancer. She had many interests, some of which were traveling, the MN sports teams, and golfing, but she especially loved family time. She is survived by her husband Wayne, and children Nikki (Aaron) Mate and Joey (Morgan) Jansen, her sisters Jeanne Loosbrock, Mary Krogman, Marge Baecker, Ann Schieck-Soloman, and Laurie Hokeness. Our sympathies to the entire family.
It’s been quite a year for farmers and harvest has been a challenge! Dale Diekmann of Fort Myers, FL and his son, Scott of Mount Laurel, NJ, Brad Diekmann of Chanhassen and Lee Diekmann of New Port Richey, FL have been spending time in Lismore helping their brothers, Tom and Jeff and their families and visiting their mother, Doris Diekmann. The “Minnesota guys” appreciate the extra help with the fall work and having family at home.
Ruth Lutmer and Mary Krogman visited with Ann Krogman in Spirit Lake last week. The cousins enjoyed an excellent lunch at a place that Ann said had “the BEST food in town”. The Lismore gals were surprised to find that the restaurant, “The HUT”, is owned by Diana (Roemeling) Herrig. Diana is the daughter of the late Jim and Germaine Roemeling formerly of Lismore and later of Adrian.
The First Presbyterian Church of Lismore will hold it’s annual Soup and dessert dinner on Sunday, November 17th, at the American Legion Hall in Lismore. Serving begins at 11:00 a.m. until gone. A free will donation will be accepted. Guests may also participate in the cookie walk and auction.
Rick and Adam Lutmer of Omaha, NE were weekend guests in the home of Frank and Debby Wieneke. They came especially to do some pheasant hunting.
Jerome Weidert hit a milestone of 20 years of sobriety. Jerome & Mary and their children, Jeff, Jim, Jean, Jerry, Joe, John, and Joan and their families celebrated at the home of Jim and Kris Weidert on Sunday. Congratulations, Jerome!
