It was the first celebration in the better part of ten years that was so affected by Mother Nature. We must have forgotten to invite her, but she showed up with a vengeance. Friday dawned super hot and humid and it didn’t let up as the day went on. Rims and Ribs was held as scheduled, and the people who braved the heat said it didn’t disappoint. The ribs were great! The numbers for all of the evening’s events were down because of the excessive heat index. If you missed out and would still like to donate to the area fireman, please give Connie Lonneman a call at (507)360-4857.
Saturday dawned cloudy with storms threatening. Unfortunately the area was hit with a major thunderstorm early in the morning with very high winds. The big tent went down and all of the morning activities for the kids as well as the craft and vendor show were cancelled. The Fox Mound 5K race was able to finish before the storm hit and the Zoo Man was moved up to the EMS building. After the storms moved out, it turned out to be a beautiful day. There was a great turnout for the parade and the duck races, and the food stand was busy. There was a good turnout for the bands and overall, it was a fun celebration!
