Wilmanette Spykerboer ~ Rock Rapids, Ia

 

Funeral services for Wilmanette Marie Spykerboer, age 86, of Rock Rapids, IA were held on Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at the Christian Reformed Church of Rock Rapids, IA with Rev. Dr. Cliff Hoekstra officiating. Burial followed at the Riverview Cemetery in Rock Rapids, IA. Wilmanette died Friday, July 5, 2019 at Rock Rapids Health Center in Rock Rapids.  She was born September 3, 1932 to Henry and Tena (Drost) Kelderman in Hartford, SD. She was the tenth of thirteen children. She attended country school near Hull. IA and Doon, IA and graduated from the 8th grade at Doon Christian School.

She was united in marriage to Henry Spykerboer on January 5, 1951 in Luverne, MN. They made their home on the farm and raised their five daughters. Hank passed away August 15, 2007. Wilmanette stayed on the farm until September of 2013, when she moved to the Rock Rapids Health Centre. She was a member of the Rock Rapids Christian Reformed Church for 67 years.

Wilmanette was a hard-working farm wife who enjoyed embroidery, baking, reading recipe books, and watching and feeding the birds. She enjoyed her four trips to the Netherlands with her husband, and traveling to California to see her sisters. Her grandchildren always enjoyed her pumpkin bread, cookies, cherry pie and barbeque. She will be remembered for her enjoyment of farm life, and being a great mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Those left to cherish her memory are her five daughters, Wanda Parker of George, IA; Nyla (John) Sohl of Luverne, MN; Twyla Lindemann of Rushmore, MN; Sandra (Dave) Lamfers of Sibley, IA; and Janice (Dwayne) Heikes of Sibley, IA; 10 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; sisters, Jeanette Lems of Doon, IA; Priscilla Spykerboer of Rock Rapids, IA; and sister-in-law, Audrey Kelderman of Rock Valley, IA.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Tena; husband, Henry; 6 brothers, Al, Hank Jr., Lawrie, Don, Alvin, and Walter in infancy; 4 sisters, Wilma, Caroline, Tena, and Dorothy; sons-in-law, Jim Parker and Roger Lindemann.

Jurrens Funeral Home of Rock Rapids, IA was in charge of arrangements.
