Funeral services for Alice Arville Hokeness, age 102, of Ellsworth, MN was held on Monday, June 10, 2019 at the Adrian Funeral Home in Adrian, MN. Interment was in the Maplewood Cemetery in Luverne, MN. Alice passed away on Friday, June 7, 2019 at the Parkview Manor Nursing Home in Ellsworth. She was born June 17, 1916, to Benjamin and Maude (Rank) Davis in Luverne, MN. She was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith and graduated from Magnolia High School.
In 1938 Alice married Lloyd Olson in Magnolia, MN and they made their home in Luverne. During WWII, she and her husband moved to Bremerton, WA and returned to Lindstrom, MN after the war. She moved to Adrian, MN in the mid 1960’s and in 1967 Alice married Casper “Coop” Hokeness. They made their home on a farm near Rushmore, MN.
She was a member of the Rushmore Presbyterian Church and was active for many years in the church women’s groups. Alice enjoyed taking walks, dancing, camping and playing cards, especially pinochle, but her true love in life was spending time with her many family. She moved into the Adrian Country Living Cottages in 2012 and then became a resident of the Parkview Manor in Ellsworth, MN in March of 2017.
Alice is survived by her two sons, Gary Olson of Wabasha, MN and Terry (Kathleen) Olson of San Jose, CA; son-in-law, Rod Tweet of Lismore, MN; daughter, Judith Grein of Anoka, MN; daughter-in-law, Eileen Hokeness of Adrian, MN; eighteen grandchildren; thirty six great grandchildren and many great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband “Coop” Hokeness, daughter, Donna Tweet, son, Eugene Hokeness, son-in-law, Leonard Grein and Eugene Hokeness and four brothers and two sisters.
