Can you believe that May begins next week? Can you believe the 80° weather we had all weekend? What is happening?
A benefit in honor of Pam (Erdman) Simpson will be held on Saturday, April 27th at the Rushmore Tavern in Rushmore. A pulled pork dinner will begin at 4:00 p.m., followed by a silent auction from 4-8:00 p.m. Pam was diagnosed in August 2018 with small cell, stage 4 lung cancer. She has had chemo and immunotherapy and is currently on the next round of chemo. Let’s all show our support as she continues her fight against cancer.
The new Senior Dining site should be about ready to move in to. Watch for their open house! If you don’t go for a meal and friendship, maybe you should consider it!
The Adrian High School classes of 1968 and 1969 are planning a joint 50th and 51st class reunion on July 19-20, 2019. Kay Cox and Joyce Broesder, along with 350+ other people from the area attended the Sanford Luverne Hospice Banquet on Saturday, April 13th. There was a great number of items on the silent auction for people to bid on along with multiple raffles. The theme and trip this year was New York City. To be eligible to win, you had to purchase a ticket to the banquet and be present. This year’s winner of the trip to New York was Sherri Thompson and the winner for the quilt auction was Curt Bloemendaal. There was also a trip to Disneyland that was won by Tammy Moeller and her husband. The food was great, and as always the Grand Prairie Event Center was a great place to hold the banquet!
“Cousins for a Cure” Craft and Vendor Event, a benefit for Cystic Fibrous will be held on May 4th from 9 a.m.- 2 p. m. at the Adrian High School gym. Mark your calendars!
Coming up on Thursday, April 25th, the Ecumenical Youth Mission Week committee will meet to discuss some projects for the three days this summer. If you have a project that you would like to see completed, please call Michele Wieneke at 507-227-6456 to get on the list.
The Easter Bunny had great numbers of children and parents/grandparents come to visit in all locations over the Easter weekend! At the Adrian Country Living Cottages the eager kids were greeted by residents and staff. What a great weekend for Easter egg hunts!
This week, the AHS students have a full week of events. Mother nature is cooperating fairly well! On Thursday, Apr. 25th the golf teams are in action with the boys hosting and invite at home, while the girls are on the road to Mt. Lake. Track and Field is in Worthington. Boys varsity baseball is home against Edgerton/SWC, while the JV at Edgerton/SWC and the middle school is playing in Lismore. Girls softball (JV/V) are also away against Edgerton/SWC. On Monday, Apr. 29 the golf teams are in Worthington, Track and Field is in Slayton and JV/V baseball is at home against Pipestone, while the MS BB is in Pipestone. Tuesday, Apr. 30th the Track and Field teams are in Pipestone; MS golf is at home against Worthington and Girls SB (JV/V) is in Luverne.
Kay Cox attended Easter dinner at the Rushmore school hosted by Steve and Sharon Lynn (the Hokeness Easter). The kids made Easter baskets, (Kay got to take one home also) and hunted eggs on the grounds outside. A great Easter feast was made possible by everyone bringing a dish to share! There was lots of candy and desserts and Sharon even had a plate for the Easter Bunny who came to dinner! An afternoon spent with family always makes for a great holiday.
The Adrian Town and Country Assoc. is holding their annual membership drive. Consider joining if you aren’t already a member. They sponsored the Easter Bunny this past weekend along with a lot of events throughout the year, the biggest being Christmas in July. Check out their website, and join today!
Al and Cindy Cox held a family dinner on Saturday, April 20th. Guests included Eileen Hokeness and Kay Cox. Al and Cindy’s children and of course the grandchildren were there to celebrate Easter. Cindy served baked chicken along with the family’s favorite foods!
Thought for the week: Put on a coat or a jacket and have someone tie your wrists together. Then try to take off the jacket. It can’t be done can it? That’s what happens when you struggle with believing in yourself, when you let fear and self-doubt tie you in knots. Confidence will destroy self-doubt. A confident person is not afraid of being wrong! He realizes he can recover from making a mistake and doesn’t allow fear of making one tie him up in self-doubt.
