A memorial service for Anthony (Tony) Sandner, age 75, of Sioux Falls, SD was held at Heritage Funeral Home in Sioux Falls, SD on Saturday, March 9, 2019. His burial will take place at a later date. Tony went to his heavenly home on March 1, 2019, with his family by his side at Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls. Tony was born to Peter and Elsie (Wegener) Sandner on January 19, 1944, in Salem, SD. He grew up in Salem and attended Salem St. Mary’s Catholic school. He worked at Jim’s Poultry for many years. He married Marlys Lindbloom on February 14, 1966. Tony had many friends no matter where he lived which included Sioux Falls, Salem, Canistota, SD, Woonsocket, SD and Dalhart, Texas, where he worked for REA. His last job before retiring was for Minnehaha County Courthouse as maintenance supervisor for 15 years. He enjoyed fixing and repairing things and doing electrical work. You could always find him tinkering around in his garage. He loved the challenge of fixing things. He also loved his dogs that always found their comfortable spot on his lap.
Tony is survived by his partner Marlys; daughter, Sadina (John) Cypher of Sioux Falls, SD; step children Marshall (Kobi) Fueston, Sioux Falls, SD and Kimberly (Mike) Kane of Montrose, SD. He had 6 sisters: Lavon Blinsmon, Janet (Bud) Hanisch of Sioux Falls, SD; Joyce Garry, Parker, SD; Rose (Al) Bies, Mitchell, SD; Elaine (Joe) Scheidt, Adrian, MN; Joan Smith, Colorado; 1 brother Larry of Iowa; and 7 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son Ronald, and brothers in law Roger Blinsmon, Keith Smith and John Garry.
