Little Lukas Wharton, age 5, was laid to rest Tuesday, June 7th at Christ the King Catholic church in Byron, MN. Lukas was the son of April (Honermann) and Josh Wharton. His grandparents are Joe and Lynn Honermann, former Adrianites. Lukas is survived by his parents Josh and April, brothers William and Colton and sister Eve, his maternal and fraternal grandparents and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. His parents were able to plan his memorial services using most of his favorite toys and flowers at the funeral were dandelions, that he loved to bring to his mother. Lukas was killed near his home in Byron. He will be greatly missed, but his family knows he is safe and well in the arms of Jesus. Blessed be the memory of Lukas Wharton.
Miss Kim Van Wyk, Le Mars, IA, was guest of honor for a bridal shower held at the home of Tammi Heronimus, Saturday morning June 11th. Kim is the bride-to-be of Huston Heitkamp. The guests were served a delicious warm coffee cake covered with fresh fruit, punch and coffee. The decorated garage of the Heronimus home was so cool and comfortable, and vases of flowers from Tammi’s garden were everywhere as the bride and groom opened up their lovely and useful gifts. All of Huston’s sisters were present along with several children who also enjoyed the party. Huston and Kim will be married in Sioux Falls in August. Congratulations Kim and Huston.
Several folks told me I should mention the caretakers of our two beautiful cemeteries as they are doing such a good job. So thank you John “Ching” and Cindy Heitkamp for the city cemetery, and Nancy and Kevin Lonneman for St. Adrian.
Kay Cox accompanied Steve and Pat Ahlberg, from Worthington, to the funeral service of her brother-in-law, Ron Ehrisman. The service was held at the Chapel in Dow Rummel Retirement Village in Sioux Falls. Ron was married to Alice Doyle for over 40 years. They traveled all over the world and spent many winters in Arizona. The services were planned exactly like Alice’s, even the same minister. Officiated. Blessed be the memory of Ron Ehrisman.
How fortunate Adrian was to hear William Krueger speak to a large crowd last Tuesday at the Elementary School. William Krueger lives in St. Paul, Minnesota and has written many books that have become best sellers. Mr. Krueger answered many questions after giving about a 45 minute talk. He and his wife sold many books and he signed each one with a smile and visited with each person. It was a delightful evening spent with a great writer. Thanks to Meredith Vaselaar, our librarian for bringing Mr. Krueger to Adrian.
Tammi Soehl, daughter of the late Leo and Joanne Thier was featured in a large colored photo in the 6-8-16 edition of the Argus Leader. Tammi graduated from Adrain in 1978 and now lives in Sioux Falls with her family. Tammi is now a Real Estate Loan Officer with American Bank and Trust. Congratulations Tammi Soehl.
Orville Lonneman, a former Adrianite, and his wife Elaine were pictured on the front page of the 6-8-16 edition of the Argus Leader. It was an article about a 911 call that Orville made for help and all the ambulances were busy with other calls. That never happens, but it did that evening. A fire rescue vehicle was sent to the Lonneman’s and Elaine was well taken care of. The article written by John Hult was very well written.
Congratulations to Adrian’s baseball team! Winning two games in 90+ weather is a remarkable feat. Go Dragons- on to State.
And congratulations to our Adrian High golfers for their great season and are now heading to State.
I wish to thank all the great friends who call and offer me rides. Unless you are in the same situation you will never know how grateful I am. God bless all of you.
