Funeral services will be held Friday, November 30, 2018 at 10:30 am at the American Reformed Church, in Worthington, officiated by Pastor Tim Truesdell. Visitation will be from 5-7 pm Thursday at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Worthington; and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Burial will be in the Sunset Rest Cemetery in Rushmore. Fern Jacobs age 92, formerly of Worthington, died Sunday, November 25, 2018, at the Good Samaritan Society in Jackson. She was born April 22, 1926, to Elmer and Florence (Reiter) Feeken. She attended Country School District #21 in Nobles County.
Fern married Dick W. Jacobs on February 15, 1944, at the Emmanuel Presbyterian Church south of Rushmore. After marriage, they moved to a farm north of Little Rock, IA. Dick died on May 23, 1978. After his death, Fern went to work in 1980 at what was then Chase Bag in Sibley, IA. Fern moved to Worthington in 1986. She retired in 1988.
She was a past member of Emmanuel Presbyterian Church; and later joined the American Reformed Church in Worthington. Fern enjoyed sewing, quilting, crocheting, embroidery, cooking and trying new recipes and playing cards with a group of ladies.
Fern is survived by her daughter, Carolyn (David) Hansen, Lakefield; daughter-in-law, Deanne Jacobs, Edmond, OK; four grandchildren, Bryan Jacobs, Richardson, TX; Kristen (Shane) Crawford, Edmond, OK; Neil (Katie) Hansen, Lakefield; and Jory (Dani) Hansen, Mitchell, SD; eleven great-grandchildren, Matthew and Caroline Jacobs; Landon, Jacob, Bryson and Carrington Crawford; Presley, Landrey and Kobie Hansen; and Claire and Brayden Hansen; three sisters, Tillie Feeken, Rushmore; Grace Feltman, Rushmore; and Helen Solma, Rushmore; two brothers, Ubbe Feeken, Sibley, IA; and Robert (JoRita) Feeken, Worthington; and a sister-in-laws, Evelyn Jacobs, Worthington.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dick; and a son, Elgene “Jake” Jacobs on August 1, 2018.
