The 2018 Dragon football team dropped its final game of the regular season in Wabasso last Wednesday night. The final score was 25-13.
The Dragons won the toss and elected to receive the opening kick. Adrian ended the drive with a punt after three plays of offense netted only three yards. The Rabbits only needed one play to score as a bootleg pass ended up going for a 77 yard touchdown. The Rabbit point after touchdown was good, making the score 7-0 Rabbits.
Brandon Schnoor took the ensuing kickoff all the way down to the Rabbit 15 yard line. The Dragons used the excellent field position to score when Schnoor ran off left tackle for a three yard touchdown. Dominiq Canales’ PAT was good, tying the game at seven.
The Rabbits answered the Dragon score with another score of their own. This time their drive took 10 plays and covered 60 yards. The Rabbit PAT was no good, leaving the score 13-7 Wabasso.
A sack derailed Adrian’s next possession, forcing a punt. The Dragon defense then struggled to slow down the Rabbits for the third straight possession. This time the Rabbit drive took nine plays and covered 68 yards. The PAT failed again to leave Wabasso’s lead 19-7.
The Dragon’s Trace Kremin returned the next Wabasso kick to the Rabbit 49 yard line setting up good field position for the Adrian offense. The Dragons would use the field position to score in five plays when Schnoor scored on another three yard touchdown. The PAT failed, leaving the score 19-13 Rabbits.
The Dragons got the ball back on Wabasso’s second play of their next drive when Kremin intercepted the Rabbit quarterback. Following the interception, the Dragons and Rabbits would take turns punting before the clock ran out on the second half.
The Rabbits received the second half kickoff and marched down the field. The Dragon defense did get a stop when on fourth and goal, they tackled the Rabbit ball carrier on the one yard line. The Dragon offense was able to get some things going as they brought the ball all the way down to the Rabbit 18 yard line on 17 plays. The drive stalled when a fumbled handoff was recovered by Wabasso.
The Rabbits took the ball all the way down the field in 12 plays to score a touchdown on a nine yard run. The PAT was no good, leaving the Rabbit lead at 25-13.
The Dragons would gain one first down on their next possession before turning the ball over on downs. Wabasso then gained three first downs of their own before kneeling to end the game.
