Lismore News 10-17-18

There is an update on Dominic Wieneke’s award winning film, “Mr. Pointy”.  The film won the Best Horror Short at the South Dakota Film Festival and was also a second place Audience Choice Award at the “Slash & Bash Festival” in Lawrence, KS.  The film has been playing in festivals around the US and should be available online before Halloween!  The film features a little girl who tries to convince her father that there is a monster in the closet.  Another interesting note: Dominic’s niece, Kiera, made the poster for the film.  Kiera is the daughter of Michael and Donna (Wieneke) Fischer and the granddaughter of Diana and the late Daryl Wieneke formerly of Lismore.

Tony and Darla Parsley of Adrian are not only collecting winter coats but also accepting any warm clothing.  Items may be dropped at their home on Maine Avenue.

Avis Stoffel, Ruth Lorang, Joyce Erdman, and Sandy Spidel enjoyed lunch at the Lismore Bar & Grill on Wednesday.  They spent the afternoon visiting at Sandy’s home in Lismore.

Many area residents have taken advantage of enjoying refreshments or dining out at the reopened Lismore Bar & Grill.  Everyone is happy that the lights are back on at this popular main street venue. Be sure stop for lunch or supper and see for yourself what they have to offer.

The Catholic Daughters of Ct. Madonna #839, Ct. St. Bernard #886 and Ct. Santa Maria #247 and Habitat for Humanity have launched a partnership to support efforts to build homes for families in need.  Each year, a house is built within the state of Minnesota with an estimated annual grant of $10,000.  This year’s home will be built in Owatonna.  The funding of this Catholic Daughter grant is made possible by the annual Gummi Bear fundraising project.  Members of these courts will be handing out Gummi Bears after Mass on Saturday, October 20th and Sunday October 21st. Donations are appreciated.

Deb Lutmer, Jan Biewer of Moorhead, Kim Sykora of Ortonville, and Carol Ankeny of Hartford, SD enjoyed a “pre-concert meal” at the Lismore Bar on Saturday.   They attended the performance of Matt Vee, “A Celebration of Neil Diamond”, at the Worthington Memorial Auditorium on Saturday evening.  The gals are longtime friends, growing up in Browns Valley, MN, and enjoy getting together and reminiscing the good old days! Kim was an overnight guest in the Lutmer home before returning to her home in Ortonville.

Mari Einck, daughter of Mike and Melissa, celebrated her 4th birthday at her home in rural St. Kilian with a “PRINCESS” birthday theme.  Guests included her grandparents, Jim and Kris Weidert of Lismore and Ron and Janelle Einck of Iona.

Father Colletti officiated at a private baptism held at St. Anthony on Sunday, October 7th at noon for Stetson Walter Ziebarth, son of Morgan and Carter Ziebarth of Flandreau, SD.  Marriah and Brandon Aggen are Stetson’s godparents. Stetson wore his daddy Carter’s baptism gown. Attending were: big sister, Hadley; Grandparents, Andrew and Michele Wieneke and Kellie and Carl Brakke; Great grandparents, Rollie and Karen Miller, Eileen Wieneke, and Marie Ziebarth; Marriah, Brandon and Coy Aggen. Uncle Mason Wieneke was the server for the baptism. All gathered in the church basement for lunch.
