Fall is here to stay, at least that’s what the weather is telling us. The leaves are just starting to turn and should have beautiful color this year. Keep the farmers in your prayers as they are trying to get harvest completed. Be sure to give them room on the roads.
This week is National 4-H Week. We are lucky to have very active 4-H programs in our area. The Grand Prairie Rockets have a display set up in the Elementary School for the week. Stop in and take a look at the projects they have completed for 2018.

Congratulations to Jake and Holly Dorn on the birth of their son Kashtyn Jacob. Kashtyn was born of Saturday, October 4th. Pat and Cammie Dorn of Adrian are the paternal grandparents and extremely proud! Congratulations all!
AHS Homecoming week was a great success! Unfortunately the football team was unable to contain MCC, who has a 5-1 record. They lost to MCC by a score of 20-10. This week they host Canby on Thursday, Oct. 11th, game-time is 7:00 p.m.
The band had a great showing at the Festival of Bands in Sioux Falls, SD this past Saturday. They took second place, defeating the band that has beaten them for two years. Despite the cold day, they were definitely up for the challenge. Congratulations to our band!
Our Cross Country team finished with two runners in the top ten in Luverne this past Thursday. That is a season best for them! Congratulations to all the runners!
The Volleyball Team defeated Fulda 3 games to 0 also for homecoming week, bringing their record to 13-2 for the season so far. Way to keep it going!
Elaine Klein was home for the weekend to attend the last mass at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ellsworth this past Sunday. While here, Elaine also stopped to visit with Kay Cox. Elaine is the daughter of the late Raphael and Esther Klein.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the community of Ellsworth who will have to adjust to the closing of St. Mary’s and the retirement of Fr. Jennings. The loss will definitely be felt by everyone.
The Vikings managed to pull off a nail biter. Beating the Eagles was a little revenge for last year’s defeat at their hands! SKOL!
On Saturday, Oct. 6th, Alan and Cindy Cox brought their grandson, Braxton Pittman to visit great-grandmother Kay at the Cottages. Kay was so thrilled to be able to spend time with them. Kids grow up so fast!
Tony & Darla Parsley of Adrian are collecting winter coats and also accepting any warm clothing. Items may be dropped at their home at 517 Maine Avenue.
