Adrian News 8-22-18

The family of Julius and Anastasia Wolf got together for a family reunion the weekend of August 11 and 12.   160 members of the family attended the picnic held at the upper park, hosted by the Betty Burkard family.  Betty is the last remaining child of Julius and Anastasia.  Family came from Oregon, South Dakota, Iowa, Wisconsin and of course there were local members present.  After the picnic those that wanted to, went to Dayton Avenue Orchard where Randy and Kay Wolf held hay rides and a bonfire.  The family hopes to get together like this every three years!

Deepest sympathies to the family of Daryel Buss.  He passed away on Tuesday, August 14.  He grew up in Adrian.  His brother Dale Buss still lives in Adrian.  Blessed be the memory of Daryel Buss

Congratulations to Joey and Davie Bullerman on the birth of their twins, Clay Paul(son) and Carter Ricki(daughter), who were born on Sunday,  August 12th.  It is reported they are doing fine.  Joey is the son of Rick and Karen Bullerman.

Also congratulations to Chris and Kristen Kruger on the birth of a new daughter, Colette Rose who was born Sunday, August 19.  Chris is the son of Denny and Anne Kruger.

As August is drawing to a close, there are a lot of college kids heading off to school. The first year students are excited, but most of the moms (at least) are a little down in the dumps.  AHS schools are starting right after Labor Day.  Please be cautious and watch for kids not paying attention.  The first football game is scheduled for August 30 against Dawson/Boyd in Dawson, MN.  Sorry to report, but fall is almost here!

Another 3+ inches of rain this past week, with a little bit Sunday night.  Never say too much rain, but maybe not so much at one time.  Now we are experiencing fall-like weather for a couple of days.  It’s been a screwy summer!

Kay Cox was “tickled pink” to be able to meet her newest great-grandson, Dash, son of Andrew and Elissa Cox Wenthe.  Dash has spent some time in the hospital in Wisconsin, but is home now with his siblings, Annelease (6), Joliet (4) and Cormac (2).  They came to Luverne to visit so everyone here could meet Dash.  It was a great visit for great-grandma Kay.

Deepest condolences to the family of Ray LeBrun.  Ray passed away on Wednesday, August 15th.  Blessed be the memory of Ray LeBrun.

On August 16th, Ching Heitkamp and Bobby Kunkel planted two trees at Adrian Country Cottages in memory of Vivian Mueller.  Staff and residents were on hand to give them all the advice they didn’t need!  What a great labor of love!

Vonnie Bergland paid a visit to Kay Cox at the Cottages after paying a visit to another old friend, Lorraine Jones.  It’s always a pleasure to see old friends.

Our deepest sympathy to the family of William Taylor.  He was the brother of Carroll and Gene Taylor.  He passed away on Thursday, August 16.  Blessed be the memory of William Taylor.

Thought for the week:  Children are watching us more closely than we know.  We nurture or destroy their sense of right and wrong, depending on how we respond to our own conscience.  As we make choices today, we should stop and ask ourselves “how will this affect the young hearts and minds that depend on me for guidance?”

Have a great week!
