Vic McCann, age 95, of Adrian, MN passed away Monday, June 4, 2018, at Morning Star Assisted Living in Colorado Springs, CO. A private interment will be held at a later date in St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery in Lismore, MN. He was born on May 24, 1923, on a farm near Lismore, MN to Leo and Minnie McCann. He completed 6th grade education at Lismore Country School.
Vic married Veronica Henning on November 27, 1945 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Lismore, MN. They resided in Lismore until 1967. During his lifetime, Vic worked with Skelly Gas Co. delivering gas to many farmers in the area. He built, owned and managed a service station in Lismore while farming and taking care of livestock.
In 1967 they moved to Colorado Springs, he built, owned and managed apartment buildings. He also built custom homes around the Colorado Springs, Monument, and Black Forest areas. He was given three out of four awards from the Colorado Springs builders Association, for his home that was featured in the 1975 Parade of Homes in Colorado Springs.
Vic returned to Minnesota in 1992 and did additional farming. His hobbies included woodworking and restoring old cars and tractors. Among his favorites were Model A’s and Model T’s. Vic and his wife Vernie rode the old cars in many parades each year around the area. He retired in 1996 in Adrian, MN.
Victor is survived by 5 children, Diane (Dick) Hunter, Hatley, WI; Joan Nicholson, Colorado Springs, CO; Darla (Jim) Kilgore, Colorado Springs, CO; Bruce (Kate) McCann, Adrian, MN; and Brian (Shari) McCann, Manitou Springs, CO; 16 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 3 brothers, Gerald (Jay), Bill and Jim McCann; and many nieces & nephews.
Victor was preceded in death by his wife Veronica; his parents; son-in-law, Lance Nicholson; granddaughter, Carrie Nicholson; 2 brothers, Dale and Jack MCann; and a sister, Marge Kahle.
Dingmann Funeral Home, in Adrian, is assisting the family with arrangements.
