Lismore News 6-13-18

The week has been busy one, with many paying tribute to loved ones who have passed away.  A small town grieves each death and fondly remembers those who have been part of our journey here on earth.

The community offers sympathy to the family of Diana Reisdorfer, who passed away June 3rd at the age of 57, following a battle with Progressive Multiple Sclerosis. Diana and her husband Rick, raised their four children on an acreage between Lismore and Adrian.  Diana was known for being a super cook and baker. She enjoyed vegetable gardening and canning her harvest. Diana is survived by her husband, Rick and her children, Jessie (Ryan) Wolf of LeSueur; Jemie (Steven) Booth of Spencer, IA; Justin (Marie) Reisdorfer of Oronoco; Jolene (Josh) Hanson of Mankato; and 9 grandchildren. Blessed be her memory.

Lyle “Pete” LaCore died June 1st following a brief illness in Cynthiana, KY at the age of 87.  He proudly served in the US Navy during the Korean War.  He was Plant Engineer at 3M in Cynthiana until he retired in 1992. He enjoyed his family and returned to Lismore for many reunions.  Good times and laughter were always present when Pete was around!  Pete, along with brothers Ken, Brian, Tom, Don, James, Dean, and William and his one sister, Pat (Jansen) grew up in Lismore.  A celebration of Pete’s life was held last week in Cynthiana, Kentucky.  He leaves behind his wife Mary Lou, as well as many children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Rest in peace, Pete.

The graveside service for Harry Spidel was held on Saturday morning at 10:30 at St. Anthony Cemetery.  Harry passed away in January of this year at the age of 93. Harry was an active member of the VFW in Worthington as well as the Lismore American Legion.  He was 2nd District Commander in the 1980’s.  Fr. Rick Colletti presided at the service and the American Legion gave Harry a proper military send off. His wife Sandy proudly accepted the American flag given to her.  Everyone was invited to the Legion for lunch following the service. God bless the memory of Harry Spidel.

Our sympathy to Pat (Mrs. Larry) Koehne and her family on the loss of her mother, Joan Gustafson of Worthington.  Joan and her husband, Robert spent most of their lives in Worthington where they raised their three children.  She is survived by Sandra, Douglas, and Pat along with several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. One of Joan’s sisters was the late Rosella Lenz of Lismore. God bless the memory of Joan Gustafson.

Our sympathy to Bruce & Kate McCann and family on the death of Bruce’s father, Vic McCann, of Colorado Springs, CO (formerly of Adrian and Lismore).  There will be a private service and burial at a later date.   Blessed be his memory.

Little Colton Johnson spent the weekend with his grandparents, Bruce & Ruth Lutmer on their acreage near Leota, while his parents, Tim & Megan Johnson attended the country music festival at Winstead. He returned to his home in Ham Lake on Sunday.

Christina Loonan will be the guest of honor at a come & go bridal shower on Saturday, June 16th from 10:00-12:00 at the Lismore Legion.  She is the bride-to-be of Travis Grindeland.  The couple is registered at Adrian Hardware, Target, and Lee’s Locker. Christina is the daughter of Bill & Raevette Loonan.

A beautiful wedding was held at the Bismarck Baptist Church on Saturday, June 2nd where Lindy Nelson and Joshua Jost were married.  Lindy is the daughter of Layne and Luann (Diekmann) Nelson of Stanley, ND.  Guests with Lismore connections included:  Doris Diekmann and Jeff & Jill Diekmann, all of Lismore; Brad Diekmann of Chanhassen; Marcie Cowan of Iona, Ginny Bertrand of Slayton; Sharon & Ken Rupp of Granite Falls; Gene & Linda Diekmann of Savage; Dale Diekmann of Ft. Myers, FL; and Emily Dalen and sons of Cyrus.  Doris, Ginny, Marcie, and Emily and boys spent a few extra days in the Nelson home in Stanley.

Joyce Erdman spent Saturday at the home of her granddaughter, Danielle & Elliot Apland and Peyton, Abbie, Callie, and Jewel on Lake Bryant near Custer, SD.   Other guests in the Apland home were: Gail Erdman of Primghar, IA; Randy Egenes of Hawarden, IA; Mark Jonas of Garretson, SD; Justin & Meredith Jonas, Brooke and Claire of Sheldon, IA; Jason Jonas and Nolan & Jaxon and Samantha Miller and Harper & Marshall all of Tea, SD.  The kids enjoyed tubing and playing in the lake. Claire Jonas celebrated her 5th birthday.  It was another great weekend making memories with family.

Lucky winners at the Lismore Catholic Daughter’s hotdish & salad luncheon on Wednesday were: Pearl Wieneke-MJ Healing Hands massage and Staci Nelson-Garden Statue.  Several gals and guys went home with the table centerpieces: Margie Wieneke, Cindy Heitkamp, Paula Goedken, Deb Lutmer, Pat Demuth, Bob Wittry, Mary Schutz, Ruth Lorang, Ray Schneider, Bill Loonan, Arlene Joens and Coletta Oertli. Many area residents, along with several ladies from Ecumen Meadows in Worthington enjoyed the outing.

Father Richard Colletti was honored on Sunday, June 10th as he celebrated the 40th Anniversary of his Ordination to the Priesthood and the parishes showed their appreciation for his service.   Bishop John M. Quinn was present to congratulate Fr. Colletti.  Following the Mass, guests were treated to a catered meal of roast beef, chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, corn, salads, buns, and a variety of bars and cupcakes. The parishes of St. Adrian, St. Anthony, and OLGC hosted the event, which was held at St. Adrian.  The many service groups of the parish worked together to make it a special celebration for Fr. Colletti.   We are very blessed to have Fr. Colletti leading us on our faith journey. He has brought new life to our parishes with his joyful spirit and his pastoral care.  Thank you, Fr. Colletti, and congratulations on your 40th Anniversary!!
