There have been rumors floating around Adrian concerning the Adrian Funeral Home on Maine Street of Adrian. It just depends on where you go for coffee what you’ve heard. It’s been said that the funeral home is closing, has been sold, is partnering with another funeral home, just to name a few. Effectively starting the beginning of June, funeral director Doug Houseman is taking on more of the administrative duties of the funeral home, and won’t be actively involved with the funerals themselves. “I will be handling things like advertising, more of the day to day office type things,” he said. “I will be available to help with funerals, or be the back up if the need arises, but I want to step back and concentrate on things in Sioux Falls.”
Seneca J. Almlie, Funeral Director from the Chandler Funeral Association and Sunset Funeral and Cremation Association, with facilities in Wabasso and Echo, MN, will be taking over as the primary Funeral Director for Adrian Funeral Home. Mr. Almlie has been a funeral director for twelve years. He presently lives in Tracy, MN. “I was approached by the owners to see if I’d be interested in serving the Adrian area. I haven’t had time to get down to Adrian and look at the funeral home, but am planning to hopefully this week,” Almlie said.
When asked if we would see changes in the funeral home, he answered, “Every Funeral Director does things differently. I need to see what is in Adrian and see how things have been done there. I’m sure there will be some changes in merchandise offered as well as technology. I like to keep up with the modern technology available to funeral homes. I really won’t know until I get to spend some time there.”
“Down the road a little ways, we will hold an open house for the community to meet me,” Seneca said. “At that time I will have had a chance to become a little familiar with the area and the business. I am looking forward to spending time in Adrian.”
