Adrian news 5-23-18

Where did May go?  It took so long to get nice and now we are closing in on the beginning of Summer!

Congratulations to all of the High School and Middle School students who received awards at the Award Programs held last week.  Also congratulations to all the students for their amazing projects at the Spring Show on Friday and the great Spring Band and Choir Concert.  There was a large attendance, cars were parked more than a block away.

It has been a busy couple of weeks getting in the Spring sports before section and state tournaments start.  A big shout out to the Dragons Girls Golf Team for their second place finish in the Red Rock Conference Tournament.  Also congrats to Alexia Kemper and Mitchell Veld for being named to the All-Conference team!

Adrian and the surrounding communities have lost a number of people in the last few weeks.  Our deepest condolences go out to all of the families who now have an empty chair at their tables.  May their memories be happy ones!

Did you hear that Mills Fleet Farm will be opening a large store in Sioux Falls in 2019!  It is a great place to shop for a variety of things!

May 20-26 is National EMS Week.  Thank you to the volunteers who give of their time for our EMS team here in Adrian.  Hug a volunteer when you see them!

Our deepest condolences to the family of Vivian Mueller.  Vivian was a great lady and a pleasure to know.  She will be missed by family and friends.  Her funeral was held on Monday, May 14, at Zion Lutheran church with Fr. Colletti and Bob Ossefort officiating.  Blessed be the memory of Vivian Mueller.

Congratulations to the team of AHS students who won second place in the Eyes Up contest.  If you haven’t seen their video, check it out on U-tube.

Congratulations go out to all of the college graduates from around the area!  Also congrats to the high school Seniors who will be graduating this coming weekend!

From the pictures on Facebook, it was a beautiful Baccalaurette service at St. Adrian this past Sunday.

Best wishes to our boss Kathy B. who had a hip replacement last Thursday!  Lots of hugs and prayers for a speedy recovery!

Kay Cox celebrated her 93rd birthday at the home of granddaughter, Whitney (Cox) and Michael Pittman on May 12.  She shared the day with her great-grandson Braxton who turned two on May 16.  Whitney baked the cake.  Happy birthday was sung to both Braxton and then to Great Grandma Kay!  It was a fun afternoon!

Kay Cox has a new phone number at the Cottages.  You can get in touch with her at 827-5000.

The residents of the Country Living Cottages are so grateful for communion and visits from the different volunteers who come to bring a little church to them.  A big Thank You!

St. Adrian’s Ladies Aid made thirteen tied quilts for the 2018 graduating Seniors of AHS.  It is a labor of love to show how proud they are of the accomplishments of these students.
