Adrian Youth Hockey Association planning reunion
“With the NHL hockey playoffs approaching, thoughts go back 45 plus years to when Adrian sponsored a youth hockey program. The original organizers as well as its coaches were Wayne Tennis along with Rev. Rolf Amundsen, and Bernie Dokken. The program itself would not have existed if not for the support and activism of the Adrian Area Jaycees. Pictured here are 2 sets of brothers who were members of the Adrian Hockey Club – the challenge is to correctly name each player. (first and last name).
Submit your answer to the NCR Office by noon on April 9th. The winning answer will receive a $50.00 cash prize. In the event of multiple correct answers, the NCR staff will draw the name of the winner from the pool of correct answers with the winner announced in next week’s paper.
Several former members of the Adrian Hockey Club along with former members of various baseball teams and the Golden Gloves Boxing team from that era are planning a reunion of sorts with Wayne Tennis. As noted, Wayne, (along with Rev. Rolf Amundsen, and Bernie Dokken) were the original organizers of the Adrian Hockey Association and its coaches. In addition, Wayne coached several baseball teams and the Golden Gloves Boxing team. The gathering is scheduled for May 5, 2018 and will be held in the Twin Cities, additional details to follow in next week’s paper.”
