The Adrian High School Speech team began the season Saturday, Feb. 3 at the Worthington Trojan Invitational tournament. Winning honors at the meet were Maritza Beltran, first place in Poetry; Alexia Kemper third place in Extemporaneous Reading and Sabdi Bravo, sixth place in Informative.
The team of 20 students has many new sixth through 12th graders participating this year along with returning speakers Alexia Kemper, Sabdi Bravo, Maritza Beltran, Arianna VanMeveren, Sara Knips, Aaron Rojas and Joshua Horn. Not all students were able to attend Saturday’s meet. The next meet for the team is Feb. 10 in Pipestone. Adrian will host its own varsity tournament Saturday, Feb. 24. Adrian hosts a junior high tournament, Monday, March 5, and then Adrian hosts the sub-section tournament April 3.
