On January 9, the Adrian Varsity basketball teams hosted a double header match up against the Spirit Lake Indians. The Lady Dragons came up nine points short of a win after putting together a powerful second half performance.
Going into the locker room at the half, down by a score of 30-14, the girls knew they had a big task ahead of them in the second half. The Dragons girls didn’t quit. They were able to hold the Indians to only 19 points in the second half while putting up 26 points of their own. Moriah Bullerman, pulled down seven rebounds while putting in key minutes for the Dragons. Avery Blaster, tallied eight points for the Dragons and four steals. Paige Bullerman went to work and did her thing down at the block and put up 14 points. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough to overcome the 22 turnovers. The Dragons also experienced foul trouble early on in the game, sitting a few key players on the bench.
Emily Alger and Brooke Harrington both scored in double digits for the Indians. Emily Alger also had five rebounds, two blocks and a steal to add to the team’s victory.
The Lady Dragons will host the Murray County Rebels on January 18th and then hit the road on January 20th heading to Lamberton to take on RRC.
