Jerry and Mary Kellen had a busy Christmas week/weekend. The week started on Monday with a get together at their home with their good friends Veryl & Avis Stoffel, Bob & Jamie LeBrun and Vicki Kohorst. On Saturday they had Christmas with their family in Jordan at the home of Mike and Rhonda Kellen along with Kayla and Nick Weber and family of Burnsville and John & Ann Kellen and Amber of Waconia. The Kellens were Christmas Day guests in the home of Vicki Kohorst to celebrate with her family.
Doug & Laura Loosbrock were among the guests who surprised Dan Loosbrock on his 40th birthday in Denver, Colorado. Dan’s wife, Jessica, and their twins Zoe & Finn planned the event— unbeknownst to Dan. Other guests were: Grandma Pat Jansen of Minnetonka and Mom Joni Loosbrock of Maplewood; brothers Jeremy Loosbrock of White Bear Lake and Josh & Tammy Loosbrock of Sioux Falls, SD; and sister Carmel & Brad Cook and Cambree, Connor and Corbin of Brandon, SD. It was an emotional surprise but so much fun for everyone. Happy 40th, Dan!
Tom & Mary Krogman spent the December 16th weekend in the home of their daughter, Colleen & Dustin Schlagel in Eden Prairie. Other guests included Scott & Janelle Vis and Jason & Jenna of Brandon, SD. They were able to support their granddaughter, Tori Schlagel as she played in a basketball tournament. Tori’s team came out as winners. On Christmas Eve, Scott, Janelle, Jason & Jenna spent the day in the Krogman home. It was a great couple of weeks with family.
The community of Lismore extends their sympathy to the friends and family of Sister Brenda Penning who recently died at the age of 83. Sr. Brenda lived at Good Counsel in Mankato as a School Sister of Notre Dame. In 1995, Sr. Brenda lived and worked among us as the Parish Director for the parishes of Lismore and St. Killian. She was the first person in the Diocese of Winona to be appointed to this position. Blessed be her memory.
Jackie Wieneke was pleasantly surprised when her former neighbor was knocking at her door. Joni Loosbrock of Maplewood was in the area for her daughter Carmel Cook’s birthday on December 22nd and stopped to visit. What a nice Christmas surprise!
Get well wishes to Harry Spidel (formerly of Lismore) as he is hospitalized in Mission, TX.
Henrietta (Heinie) Lais will celebrate her 95th birthday with an open house on January 6th between 1:00-4:00 p.m. at 755 Dugdale Avenue in Worthington. Her family invites any friends to attend.
Angie, Jason and Jonny Beek of Inwood, IA hosted the Wieneke family for Christmas dinner. Those attending were: Troy, Connie, Eric and Tori Wieneke from Slayton; Brandon, Jenn and baby Nora Kirchner from Yankton SD; Matthew, Amber, and Payton Kirchner from Lismore; Michael Kirchner from Sioux Falls, SD and Jackie Wieneke from Lismore. Angie started the meal out with a prayer of thanks and remembrance for our family present and those not with us anymore and for those facing health issues to let them know we are all praying for them. The food was great and the time spent with children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren was priceless! Jackie feels so blessed!
Guests in the home of Mary Alice Lutmer in Luverne for the Christmas holidays were: Jean Kern-Regis from Apple Valley, MN; Joan Lutmer from Basehor, KS; John, Jill, Jessica & Jared Lutmer from Pierre, SD and Jordan Lutmer, home on break from SDSU; and Jim, Bobbi & Molly from Perry, IA. Not everyone could make it due to the flu bug, but they all still had fun.
The community extends their sympathy to the family of Gladys Buss. Gladys passed away at the age of 95 on December 29th. Gladys and her late husband Jake farmed southwest of Lismore until his death in 2010. Gladys is survived by her four children: Betty Jean of Sarasota, Florida, Darlene of Marvin, SD, Jake Jr. of rural Lismore and Burdell of St. Paul. Blessed be her memory.
Joyce Erdman celebrated another Christmas on New Years Day at the home of her daughter Peggy and Mark Meyer in Rushmore Other dinner guests were their son Matthew Meyer of Brandon, SD and Stephanie Frank of Brookings, SD, and their daughters Natasha and Vern Schutte of Rushmore and Alyssa Meyer of Brandon, SD and her friend Logan Neyens of Wilmont. It was another great day spent with family.
