Funeral Services for Eleanor C. Lingbeck, age 94, formerly of Ellsworth, Minnesota, were held on Monday, November 13, 2017, at Hartquist Funeral Home in Luverne. Burial was at Memory Gardens Cemetery near Luverne, Minnesota. Eleanor died Wednesday, November 8, 2017, at the Sanford Luverne Hospice Cottage in Luverne, Minnesota. Visitation will be Sunday from 4:00 – 6:00 PM at the Hartquist Funeral Home in Luverne.
Eleanor Carolyn Lingbeck was born on June 6, 1923 to John and Anna (Enninga) Baerenwald in Adrian, Minnesota. She received her education and graduated from Adrian High School in 1942. On April 25, 1944, Eleanor was united in marriage to Sylvester “Sy” Lingbeck at her parents’ home in Adrian. While Sy served in the United States Army during WWII, Eleanor moved in with his parents. Sy returned home from his service in July of 1946. Through the years, the couple raised hogs and dairy cattle on farms near Adrian, Hardwick and Ellsworth, Minnesota, while raising their two daughters. In 1990, the couple retired from farming and moved into Ellsworth. Sy preceded her in death on February 28, 2008. In November 2012, Eleanor moved to the Sunrise Village in Jasper, Minnesota and enjoyed her time there putting together puzzles and reading books.
Eleanor was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Rock Rapids, Iowa. She enjoyed watching women’s basketball, dancing the Polka with her partner, Sy, and traveling to Branson, Missouri to vacation. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Eleanor will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Cheryl (Steve) Bryant of Nashville, Tennessee; six grandchildren, Deborah (Fred) Fodness, Chris Gieseke, Kim (Augustine) Martines, Amy Bryant (Mark Biese), Tom Bryant (Lisa Tucci), Lacey (Nick) Wilson; eight great-grandchildren, Dean Fodness, Derek Fodness, Kolton Gieseke, Rison Curtis, Briana Gieseke, Gavin Wilson, and Anna and William Bryant; two great-grandchildren, Aydin Fodness and Madison Fodness; sister, Margaret Kienast of Luverne; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sylvester; daughter, JoAnn Gieseke; brothers, John and Frank; sister Elli Baerenwald; and parents, John and Anna.
