Adrian News 10-18-17

As folks “up north”, meaning folks north of Ellsworth, drove down Hwy 91 to attend the funeral of well known farmer Jim Taylor, they passed Jim’s farm that borders highway 91.  Many had comments about the farm that Jim was so proud of and that he raised his family on.  Jim’s funeral was held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church last Saturday, October 14, 2017, officiated by Father Tom Jennings of Luverne, MN.  The church was full of family and friends from all over.  Jim’s casket bearers were his grandchildren who were always welcome at this farm.   The beautiful casket arrangement bore the signs of Jim’s farm with ears of corn and stems of soybeans and fall flowers made by Jill Wolf of Adrian Floral.  The family hosted a meal after mass and then traveled to Adrian for Jim’s last ride by his beloved farm.   The farm will continue to be farmed by Jim’s nephews.  The family was so pleased that so many friends and family members could be there to celebrate the life of their father and grandfather.  Blessed be the memory of Jim Taylor who took such good care of God’s land.  When God created the world he created a farmer to take care of the land!  That quote is not exactly correct, but it fits Jim Taylor.

Farmers are rushing to finish the harvest, so be careful on all roads.   Those big pieces of machinery take up lots of the road, so slow down and give them room.

What a good win for the Vikings!!  Quarterback Rodgers had a serious injury, so the Vikings had a better chance of winning. Hey that’s the way the ball bounces.
