Mass of Christian Burial for Virginia T. Deutsch age 79 of George, IA was held on Friday, October 13, 2017 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ellsworth, MN with Fr. Tom Jennings celebrating. Burial was at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Ellsworth, MN.
Viginia died Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at Hawkeye Care Center in Milford, IA.
Virginia Theresa (Cook) Deutsch was born on April 15, 1938, at Adrian, MN the daughter of Lawrence and Bernice (Wieneke) Cook. Virginia attended St. Adrian Catholic School and graduated in 1957. She was united in marriage to Lawrence Deutsch on September 2, 1957. They made their home in George, IA. They owned and operated Deutsch Grain. She resided at Keelson Harbour in Spirit Lake from April 2015 to September 2017. They were blessed with four children. Lawrence passed away on October 27, 1994.
Virginia was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ellsworth, MN where she was active in the altar society. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in George. She enjoyed playing bridge with her friends and she was an avid Minnesota Twins fan. She volunteered as a foster grandmother in the George school system. Virginia did upholstery work for years and worked at Casey’s in George for 8 years. She loved her family dearly and always enjoyed, camping, fishing, working in her garden and spending winters in Arizona with her special friend Glenis Geerdes.
She is survived by her children, Beverly Kruger and her husband, Merlyn of Wahpeton, IA; Sharon Freking and her husband, Paul of LeMars, IA; Duane Deutsch and his wife, Lori of Knoxville, IA and Linda Sample and her husband, Stanley of West Fargo, ND; nine grandchildren, Ryan (Megan), Sara (Brandon), Katie, Preston, Abby (fiancé, Jordan), Mandi, Alissa, Kyle and Nathan; four great grandchildren, Carter, Colin, Grant and Eloise; five sisters, Lorraine (Dallas) Poss of Sibley, IA; Betty Herman of Ellsworth, MN; Donna Langel of LeMars, IA; Mary (Lyle) Wolf of Sioux Falls, SD and Marguerite (Willy) Nath of Adrian, MN; three brothers, Jim (Mary) Cook of Worthington, MN; Orville (Gini) Cook of Windom, MN and Virgil (Alice) Cook of Adrian, MN; and many nieces, nephews and other extended family.
Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence; her parents, Lawrence and Bernice and brother and sister-in-law, Lorn and Darlene Cook; brothers-in-law, Ray Neyens, Virgil Jonas, Butch Langel and Paul Herman; nephew, Dave Neyens; and other extended family.
