Burdell Francis Bents Rushmore, MN

 

Funeral services for Burdell Francis Bents were held on Tuesday, September 26, 2017, at the Emmanuel Presbyterian Church near Rushmore, MN, with Pastor Paul Snyder officiating.  Burial was held in the Sunset Rest Cemetery near Rushmore.  Burdell passed away peacefully, after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his family on Saturday, September 23, 2017, at the age of 63.

Burdell Francis Bents was born on December 29, 1953, in Sibley, IA, the son of Herb and Frances (Venenga) Bents. He attended country school and later graduated from Ellsworth High School in 1972. After high school, Burdell worked alongside his parents on the farm milking cows, raising livestock, and crop farming. On November 21, 1992, he married Tammy Hoefert in rural Rushmore. Burdell was a lifelong member of Emmanuel Presbyterian Church.

In 2000, Burdell and Tammy moved to the family farm where they continued to raise livestock and crop farm. For the last 10 years, Burdell spent his days driving truck for his nephew at Steve Bents Trucking. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and attending their many activities including volleyball, basketball, and softball games. He also enjoyed spending time with his friends at the local sale barn whenever possible.

Burdell is survived by his wife of 24 years, Tammy; his daughters, Amy and Jodi, both of Spencer, IA; special friends, DuWayne and Carol Andersen; brothers, George, Leo (Cheryl), and Kenny (Diane), and sister-in-law, Colleen Bents. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Burdell was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Dwayne, and sister-in-law, Linda Bents. Burdell will be missed by his family and many friends.
