Funeral services for Sandra (Sandi) Kay Lynn, age 61, were held Wednesday, September 13, 2017, at First Lutheran Church , Sioux Falls, SD, with her burial at Woodlawn Cemetery. Sandi passed away September 9th, 2017, surrounded by her loving family, at the Dougherty Hospice House of Sioux Falls, SD, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Sioux Falls, SD, on July 24, 1956, to Robert and Helen (Walker) Jones. She attended Axtell Middle School and in 1974, graduated from Washington High School.
Sandi met Thomas Lynn through a mutual friend in 1973 and they married on June 15, 1974 at St. Joseph’s Cathedral in Sioux Falls. She devoted her career to accounting/bookkeeping in the family business with Tom beginning with Napa Auto Parts in 1977. In 1994, Tom and Sandi managed the transition of their business to CarQuest Auto Parts where she finished her career in 2015, with Tom following in 2016.
During her early years, she could always be found out in the sun with friends and family around their pool. She loved entertaining and summer was her chance to serve people by hosting frequent gatherings at the house for BBQ and swimming. She also enjoyed spending time at the lake where she and Tom kept their camping trailer. Amongst family and friends, Sandi and Tom would spend most weekends at their “summer home” at Lake Thompson. When she wasn’t at the lake she was spending her remaining time with her grandchildren.
Those who were blessed to know her would agree that her humor was one of a kind. She was infectious to be around and always sought to use laughter to lift people up. During her treatment for breast cancer in the early 2000s, she used her humor to brighten days of fellow chemo-therapy patients during their treatments. Sandi’s personality was a lighthouse to people as she continued to inspire laughter from the staff at Avera McKennan, where she recently fought her final battle with cancer. The Lynn family would like to personally thank the entire staff of Avera McKennan for their compassion and love for Sandi during her time with them.
Grateful for having shared Sandi’s life are her loving husband of 43 years, Tom; her daughters Amy (Jeff) Anderson Crooks, SD, Allisa (Justin) Richter, Crooks, SD and Tara Lynn, Sioux Falls, SD; her son Ryan (Dawn) Lynn of Castle Rock, CO; her 7 grandchildren: Allison and Sydney Anderson; McKenna and Treyson Richter; Raegan Dempsey; Kelsey and Nicolas (Buzz) Lynn; her sisters Sharon (Jerry) Bettcher, Marianne Scott, Pat Byler, Dianne (Scott) Johnson and Penny (Doug) Alexander; her brothers Butch (Barb) Jones and Rick Jones and her many nieces and nephews.
