Johnson to retire from Adrian Branch Library

Joan Johnson, the Adrian Branch Library Page, will retire at the end of September.  Johnson has worked at the Adrian Branch Library since 1996.

“In 1996 I contacted Barb at SMOC to see about working through the SMOC program, and she said she would look for a position for me,” Joan recalls, “She contacted me and she and I met with Librarian Meredith Vaselaar; she interviewed me, and I started working at the Library.”  When the SMOC program ended, Joan was hired by Nobles County as a Library Page in 2001.

“I have enjoyed working at the Library.  It’s been one of the most enjoyable jobs I’ve had (and I have had a lot of jobs in my life, beginning when I started babysitting at the age of 10).”  Joan says, “I have enjoyed working with Meredith, Alpharetta Palaschak, Cathy Marsh, the volunteers, and the public.  I will miss all of you!”

Joan was always a reader, but working at the Library has, as she says, “REALLY made me a reader!”  Although Joan will be retiring, she has no intention of being absent:  “I will come back at different times to visit and see people here – and check out books.”  She has an invitation to others, too:  “When passing through Magnolia, stop and have a cup of Coffee, a few laughs, etc., with me!  Looking forward to seeing you all in different places at different times!”

There will be a celebration of Joan’s years at the Library, as well as a warm goodbye, in an Open House in her honor, to be held at the Adrian Branch Library on Friday, September 29, 2017; 12:00 noon – 4:00 p.m.  Please stop in and give your regards to Joan, enjoy a treat and a cup of coffee!
