The Lismore Fire & Rescue will have their annual fundraiser of all-you-can-eat BBQ Pork or Turkey supper beginning at 5:00 on Saturday, August 19th. Firemen are selling raffle tickets, which also entitle you for a chance to win an assortment of prizes.

Bruce & Brenda Loosbrock were excited to meet their new grandson, Dominic Joseph, when they spent last weekend in Roeland Park, KS.  Dominic is the son of Stephen & Bethany Loosbrock.

The ladies of the First Presbyterian Church of Lismore will be showcasing an array of salads and sandwiches at their annual free will offering supper on Monday, August 21st beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the Legion Hall.  All area women (and men, too) are welcome!

Laurie and Katie Wieneke attended the Sioux Valley Hospital School of Nursing 100th anniversary celebration held at the Minnehaha Country Club on Saturday.  Katie was honored to receive one of the nursing scholarships.  Congratulations, Katie, as you continue your studies.

Guests in the home of Doug & Laura Loosbrock were his brothers, Brad Loosbrock of Champlin and Eric & Kelly Loosbrock, both of Chasta. They came especially to attend the Loosbrock reunion and Lismore Old Home Day in the Lismore Park on Saturday.

Ashton & Abby Schultz spent two weeks with their grandmother, Karon Nagel before returning to their home in Oakdale.  They are the children of Lynn & Kevin Schultz.

Guests in the home of Dave & Deb Lutmer were her sisters, Carol Giroux of Wheaton and Donna Dew of Edmond, OK.  On Saturday the gals attended the Hawaiian themed get-together at the home of Tony & Diane Swenson in Blaine.  Diane and Donna were classmates at Browns Valley High School.

Jackie Wieneke had a surprise visit from her grandson Brandon Kirchner of Yankton, SD.  He was enroute from the Lake Shetek Boy Scout Camp.  Brandon has been involved with the Boy Scouts for years after achieving the status of an Eagle Scout himself.

Milo Marvin Vargas, son of Ivan & Jean (Lorang) Vargas, was baptized at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Dell Rapids, SD on Saturday, August 12th with Fr. John Lantsberger officiating.  Milo’s Godparents are Todd & Susan Roerig and Minga Vargas. Those attending were: Grandma Ruth Lorang of Lismore; Kevin, Yig, and John Lorang of Minneapolis; Susan & Todd Roerig, Noah, Isaac, and Grace of Sioux City, IA; Grandma Rose Vargas of Dell Rapids, SD; and  Minga, Anthony and Dominic Vargas of Lincoln, NE. Milo’s baptismal gown has been in the family for many years.  It was made by Jean’s great-grandmother for her first born, John Lorang Jr., for his baptism in 1906. Four generations of the Lorang family have worn this gown for their baptisms.  What a great tradition!
