Funeral Services for Lila Mae Nelson , age 81, of Adrian, MN were held on Monday, August 14, 2017, at the Zion Lutheran Church, in Adrian, officiated by Pastor Kerry Boese. Burial was in the Adrian Cemetery. Lila died Tuesday, August 8, 2017, at the South Shore Care Center in Worthington, MN.
Lila was born March 28, 1936, in Adrian, MN to Chuck and Elizabeth (Karsten) Zilm. She attended country school and Adrian Schools.
Lila married Edgar Nelson on May 23, 1954, in Windom, MN. The couple lived in various cities including Heron Lake, Little Falls, Worthington & Rushmore. In 1960, they moved to Adrian. Lila worked at Campbell’s Soup in Worthington and at the Adrian Rest Home. She later cleaned houses.
She was an active member of the Zion Lutheran Church, in Adrian; and the Ladies Aid. Lila also volunteered at the Arnold Memorial Nursing Home in Adrian. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, knitting, playing cards and especially her grandchildren.
Lila is survived by her five children, Kevin (Pam) Nelson, Willmar; Dellcene (Mike) Truty, Slayton; Rick Nelson, Adrian; Mary Thies, Adrian; and Lora (Marc) Van Buren, Cedar Rapids, IA; thirteen grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; a brother, Gary Zilm, Vancouver, WA; and a son-in-law, Ray Cornelisen, Ortonville.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ed on March 18, 2000; son, Doug in 1996; daughter, Patsy Cornelisen in 2010; a sister, Phyllis (Lowell) Sjogren; and a sister-in-law, Nancy Zilm.
