Joyce Erdman was joined by her family, Rod & Ruth Erdman of Pipestone; Pam & Mark Luettel of Adrian; Gail Erdman of Primghar, IA; and Mike Erdman of Lismore for the 5:00pm Mass last Saturday at St. Anthony Church. They gathered to remember the 4th anniversary of the passing of their husband/father, Earl Erdman. After Mass the family, along with Fr. Rick Colletti, enjoyed supper at the Countryside Inn.
Mason Thomas Diekmann, son of Brandon & Lydia, was baptized on Sat. July 29th, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Lismore. Following the baptism, they also celebrated Morgan Diekmann’s 3rd Birthday. Make plans to attend Old Home Day, which will be held on Saturday, August 12th. The Lismore Booster Club has plans for a fun packed day of family games, train rides, treasures in the sand, bingo, food & drink, beanbag tourney, and outdoor movie.
A Loosbrock gathering is scheduled for Saturday, August 12th, in conjunction with Lismore’s Old Home Day. Meet, greet, visit, mingle, and fill in your family tree at the Lismore Park.
Diana Wieneke of North Mankato (formerly of Lismore), and her daughter, Donna (Wieneke) & Mike Fischer and family of Mapleton, MN, made a trip to Vermont in July. They went especially so Diana’s dad, Laurent Lavallee could meet his great-granddaughters, twins Jaida & Lilah and their older sister, Kiera. Laurent will be 98 years old in September. He enjoyed seeing all three of his great granddaughters and Mike’s sons, Taylor & Ryley.
The Lismore Fire & Rescue will have their annual fundraiser of all-you-can-eat BBQ Pork or Turkey supper beginning at 5:00 p.m., on Sat. August 19th. Firemen are selling tickets.

The Melvin Lutmer family hosted the noon picnic at the home of Frank & Debby Wieneke on Saturday, August 5th. The ladies of the 1st Presbyterian Church of Lismore will be showcasing an array of salads and sandwiches at their annual free will offering supper on Monday, August 21st, beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the Legion Hall. All area women (and men, too) are welcome!
Joshua Wieneke of El Paso, IL, spent a month visiting his grandma, Jackie Wieneke, his aunt, Angie Beek and family from Inwood, IA and his uncle Troy and family from Slayton. Joshua is the son of the late Chad V. Wieneke. Even though Joshua stayed a month, the time went by way too fast!
Ruth Lorang returned Friday, August 4th, from her family’s summer gathering. The LAG (Lorang Annual Getaway) began in August 2003, to celebrate Marv and Ruth’s 40th wedding anniversary. It has become the Lorang’s annual summer get-together and this year marks 14 years. The location they have been going to since 2008, is a lake home known as Emerald Hideaway located on Lake Elizabeth, near Atwater and Willmar, MN. Boating, skiing, knee-boarding, tubing, swimming, fishing, canoeing, kayaking, relaxing in the sun, games, campfires, and lots of eating are enjoyed every summer! The Lorangs also had a nice visit with Irma Lorang of Bloomington, MN and Jim and Carla Lorang of Savage, MN on Friday. Irma rode with Ruth after spending the week visiting with family in Lismore. In attendance from the Lorangs were: Ruth Lorang, Lismore, MN; Tom, Molly, Kaitlyn, and Keegan Lorang, Morton, MN; Kevin, Yigliola and John Lorang, Minneapolis, MN; Todd, Susan, Noah, Isaac, and Grace Roerig, Sioux City, IA; Shawn, Lynn, Caleb, and Asha Dearey, Durango, CO; and Ivan, Jean, Owen, Lucy, Phoebe, Hazel and newborn baby Milo Vargas, Dell Rapids, SD. Following time at the lake, Ruth traveled on to Minneapolis to spend a day at Valleyfair amusement park with Lynn, Caleb, and Asha Dearey, and Kate and Keegan Lorang. There wasn’t an attraction or roller coaster she wouldn’t ride! On her return trip home she stopped to visit her sister, Joan Wolf of Clara City, MN.
Leo Edward Luettel was baptized on Sunday at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Faribault. Leo is the son of Corey & Tara Luettel of Medford, MN.
